Re: This assault weapons ban CANNOT pass!
Going back to handouts for a minute...it's gross how much the system gets abused. My brother has MD and requires around the clock care, usually provided by a caregiver. One of the individuals is married to a deadbeat, has 4 kids and the only income in the house. He's(the husband) on welfare, food stamps, cash assistance, etc, and she often misses work because they share one vehicle that barely works.
All that said, both her, her husband, and all 4 kids each have their own tv, xbox, ps3, wii, nintendo ds, and all the games and subscriptions to match PLUS all the weed and drugs they can handle....all(proudly) paid for with our tax dollars. She has zero shame about abusing the system and it makes me sick.
Unemployment got extended another 36 weeks, benefits are easier than ever to obtain and maintain, offer more than ever and clearly don't get tracked.
We lost a family business to the economy and had to temporarily(operative word) get on government assistance until everyone got back on their feet. Once they did, the benefits were surrendered and everyone is back on the fast track. That's what the system is designed for...temporary relief during hard times, not a means or source of sustainable income.
For each family that NEEDS the assistance, there's five or six that are leeching off the government titty and if they won't crack down on it, it has to go away or undergo some serious reform. Unfortunately, people will always take the easy way out and the amount and ease of assistance available is breeding a culture of takers and abusers, merely looking to get by with the bare minimum; no drive to get better, no determination and now 30% of the population rely on the other 70% to keep our heads above water and push forward.
If you owned a business that only ran at 70% efficiency, well you probably wouldn't own a business anymore. Governments like when the people NEED them, when they count on them for sustenance and the sheeple are content to let it be that way. We(as a country) can't rally around a single cause cuz we're just too big. Part of it goes back to the population issue but the other part is the USofA is just a huge land mass and a melting pot of beliefs, ideals and morals. Communication, even via the internet, becomes an issue and there's also a disconnect. Take some folks from the Bible belt, some vegans from LA, a New York taxi driver and a Florida insurance salesman, put em in a room and find 1 issue they all agree on. This country was built on freedom and immigration but when people allow personal quarrels, beliefs, etc to get in the way of overall productivity, everyone butts heads and nothing gets accomplished.
Imagine where we would be if 311,000,000 people could put aside their petty differences and just work toward the greater good...
