This is why you don't ever load more than one round in the .500 S&W Magnum when someone is shooting it for the first time.

In the video they are laughing about it, but this could have gone really bad.

The second round went off so closely after the first that the bullet would have just gone high, and probably would pose no threat to anyone. I have seen a few doubles, and sometimes both bullets will hit somewhere in the paper.
Doubles with a powerful revolver is not uncommon. It is the result of recoil and reflex.

I would say really close. The second round went off somewhere around 11:00 from the original position.

While Youtube is full of those sorts of videos, I'm not sure that this one qualifies...

Considering the cartridge, she handled that much better than most people do. I shouldn't have to point out that "just because she's a cute chick" doesn't mean she can't shoot. Most guys wouldn't have held onto a .500 through the recoil of a second, unanticipated shot.

A year or two back I knew a guy who was a massive bigbore revolver fanatic. The only things he shot were ultralight magnums and his S&W .500. Most people who purchase a .500 or .460 never shoot it very much - on average, I'd estimate 20-30 rounds per year is on the high side for the typical owner of such hoglegs. This guy would shoot 40-60 rounds of .500 Mag each week, every week, at a minimum. He had been shooting the S&W for quite a while and gotten more than just fairly proficient with it. Day comes around, and I see him walk out of the range with a tremble in his hands and a pasty white face. "Heeyyy, Arrbbitter, caan a revolver go full, full auto..?" Watching the video, it turned out that the set screw holding the muzzle brake in place had come loose, and midway through his shooting session the brake rotated in place, blocking off the ports. The first round was on target, but the massive recoil blew his arms straight up to vertical...where he reflexively touched off the second shot of 400gr Magtech directly up into the ceiling.

Had it been anyone less experienced or less muscular than that particular guy, I personally believe the second shot might well have been fatal.

Some poor bastard ate a .44Mag at a local indoor range a few years back when he insisted his GF shoot a range rented Desert Eagle. She touched off the first, and the pistol recoiled and she rested on her shoulder pointing strait behind her as the second shot broke. Killed him in a rather dramatic fashion.
I'd like to kick someone in the balls next time I see someone give too much gun to someone. JPG
