So a guy sent me a Henry or Armalite survival 22 to thread for a 1/2-28 can. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I got it and unbeknownst to me it's a poly wrapped sleeve instead of aluminum like I was thinking it would be.
The sleeve appears to be 3/8 od. Once I figure out a way to make an extension to dial the barrel in, I planned to cut it down to the sleeve just far back enough to get an extension on there without going into the sight dovetail. I was thinking thread it 5/16-40,which is what I threaded a 5.7 I did once. Then face the end off and have the extension shoulder against the end of the barrel.
Anyone done one or have any thoughts? What I'm worried about is the sleeve rotating in the poly when machining it. I thought I had heard of this happening on paclite barrels at one time.
