Yeah I wasnt paying attention to my scale and loaded up 50 "subsonics" except instead of loading them at 10.5 grains, I loaded them at 15 grains.

Needless to say they are not subsonic and now I have to pull all of them to dump 4.5 grains out of each case.

Fugging sucks!

Oh yeah.. which also means I need to buy a bullet puller since I dont have one.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

Anyone need an mac90 (ak47 variant)? I am considering selling it as I never shoot it. I'll hall it up there and we can run a blizzard swap meet. I can't wait to get there and do some shooting again. It has been toooo long and this is a sport of rapidly deteriorating skills.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

OK, I'm driving the bus from Dayton...got five shooters riding in the minivan with gear. Just read through all the pages and no one has asked, so I'll bite the bullet. If the ground is frozen and snowy as it appears it will be, are we likely to have to hump the course with gear? Just wanted to ask so I pack only bare essentials (i.e. no spotter, etc) as the gun I am wanting to take out weighs in at around 25lbs... Looking forward to it and I'm shooting MOA/MOA suppressed.

At times I would have taken $5.00 for it.Thats when I first got it though.I'm thinking I should get rid of it before I turn it into a .260Rem..

I really want an AR platform in 6.5 Creedmore.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

Frozen and snowy is better than warm and muddy.
Please bring spotting scopes if you have them.
I'll have my tall tripod for use.
Last year this shoot was a great time and nobody froze!

Tom,
I can take care of the registration.
It would be easier if guy's would register as a team, or a group of guy's together. (Can Guy's/Hunting Buddies)

New shooters with a buddy, great!

Bro is putting loading his ammo over mine right now!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

I'll have three shooters with me coming from Michigan. I have 7 or so lbs of RL22 that I'm willing to part with if anyone is interested (I'll give you a good deal).

Tom:

I'll be giving you a call today. May want to meet with you Saturday evening as I have a number of "items" I brought from work to show you.

Heres your chance for your build.I thought about 6.5 Creedmore myself. It does fine as a .308.I was wanting to do something different with it though.Thought the .260 would be the way to go.Then I thought why not get rid of it,give others a chance with it,and use what I already have.

If I get in the mood...

I may bring out my .300 WM too. We'll see since I got my .300 Hulk I really don't have a need for a .300 WM.

This is a GOOD problem to have!! Lets hope for a good turnout.

A possible solution to the long waits associated with good turnout is easy enough after partners are chosen. Just have an RSO assign shooter numbers handed out 1 thru whatever and run from 4 to 6 shooters per station on a line with the RSO calling out shooter numbers to take turns making their shots? Just a suggestion?
That should keep things flowing safely and avoid the long waits that come with a good turnout.
But I guess it depends how many people actually show versus say they are coming. More is always better in my opinion.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

Me and Chris are for sure, trying to figure out what time we will have to leave Ssunday morning to be down there around 9 am, probably around 2-3am...yikes. This will be like my version of the iron man.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

As many shooters that are starting to show, it sounds like the idea of running 2 stations at once is getting more realistic. It could easily be done with a set of walkies ($50) and a couple sets of Red and Green Flags which could be a good visual indicator of which position is hot or not. This would need to be laid out ahead of time.

Gander Mountain has these on sale right now. I used the exact ones 2 weeks ago while hunting.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

I think we should just run four shooters at a time. Run it right down the line. Shoot all 4 shooters at target 1, then all 4 at target 2, then all four at target three, etc. Have the next guys on deck get all their gear and be ready to go within a minute of finishing each four man relay. If we are getting points for moving fast then we could still do the two shooters at a te thing but have four people on the line. As soon as the first pair finish the time starts for the next pai. If we do it this way then we have have lead flying nonstop. No interruption in firing. I like option two.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

Sounds like we will just have to make sure that everyone is ready to roll when they are called to the line then. With the extra time of starting early, we should be alright.

Josh

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

After this match we will have to change our name to Gitter done shooting.com......imagine the video of four shooters shooting like a well oiled gear finishing in 5 mins or less! Lets do it!

Two, two man teams shooting...should no be a problem. All shooters will be done firing...like at position 2 target 1...then swing left and continue....all bolts open guns empty..
fire command giving by safety officer ONLY...safely but quickly.

We will get through this no problem. It will be high speed for some new shooters but IF possible we give them more time and really watch them. I wont be shooting this match so I can better help the new guys fulltime as well as others. Unless you guys twist my arm really hard..then I might. Well see how it goes..you guys come first I can shoot it anytime.
Keep your ideas coming!

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

If there are new shooters, make sure you understand how the knobs on your scope work, and what to do when a correction adjustment is told to you. It seems like the most time is spent waiting for people to dial dope between shots, when in fact that correction should be made almost instantaneous.

definitely being ready when you are called is key though

I like the 4 shooters idea if we need to use it. Maybe see how many people, and see how position one goes and adjust from there.

Tom, I haven't heard what conditions were looking at as of now, will we be walking?

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

If the ground is froze...and it should be... we will drive. If it's slick/wet it will be a mess...so we will have to walk or use limited vehicles. Honestly...I think it will be froze.

Have a safe and happy New Year.

Have fun,

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

I am still planning to come out to watch and will bring my spotting scope so others can use it. I don't think others understand our way of spotting but my spotting scope is always available for anyone that wants to use it at any match we are at.

Mike, I'd spot for ya but you got to study up on the various sizes of truck tires first and I don't think they are sized in MOA.

Most of our group should be ready for the February shoot though. With Dale on a gun buying and customization spree and me with trying various mount and scope options we're just not quite ready for prime time yet. But should be good to go for Rayners and TV next month.

Re: Thunder Valley Precision (TVP) Steel Shoot 1-3

Alright guys, With as many people showing as expected, it will be key that everyone be on time and we start the match on time at 10am as Tom stated. That means everyone should at least be there by 9 to get signed in.

Tom, Shoot me a text and let me know if you need any help in the morning and I can try and get there earlier as well.

I am coming through cleveland anyways. I think I will try to do the intimadator course but I don't think my ammo has the power to reach past 1000yds. Got the scope fixed though has 12.5mil of up elevation.
