Rifle Scopes Tier One versus Spuhr

I have a couple of sets of Tier One mounts (uni-mounts, saddle mounts, ring mounts, whatever you want to call them).

Never owned a Spuhr.

Have a couple of new setups I am scoping and was wondering about Spuhr.

Any suggestions? Are they better?

I had heard rumors that Tier Ones are made in China. Is that BS?

If you already have the Tier One mounts I don't see any reason to buy Spuhr, though they are nice. If it's the same Tier One I'm thinking of (out of the UK maybe?) then I've read a lot of good about them.

They are about $100 cheaper than Spuhr.

I am going to try a Spuhr after this pandemic dies down. I am not buying anything other than food and paying bills until then.

I bought a MPA unimount which is like buying a new 2020 Corvette (100k). Most people settle for Vortex or Seekins PMR which is the minivan's of the world.
-Even though I'm all set on MPA mounts I still want a Spuhr for no specific reason.

Euro Optic has the Spuhr for $450ish, the Tier One is 250 pounds stirling, which is about $310.

MPA is $250. Seekins is a AR-15 cantelever type mount and is $200. American Rifle company is $300.

There are about another 10-15 companies that make them overseas, and I don't now how many stateside.

I knew what a Bugatti Veyron was, and of course a Corvette. I am glad you threw those in for those that haven't had poster with a naked chick with fake tits draped across a sports car on their wall in 30 years.

Had no idea what a Koenigsegg was. Pretty cool, thanks for broadening my horizons.

I just googled that car, and couldn't find a single photo of a half naked fake titted bimbo hanging over one. They must not take photos like that for car magazines anymore.

Tier One are 100% made in the U.K. they even make the screws in house.

Zeiss and March rings are made by Tier One.

Beside offering screws for accessory mounts that most people do not use, what do those mounts offer than a set of good rings for $150 do not?

Buy a 1 piece set up from F3R machine and let me know how it is. I have wanted to pick one up for a while now but I'm sketched out because the company is so new. Looks like a "garage" based buisness in the US. But their mounts look pretty legit I will say.

Let's say that the 1913 rail you put on your scope whether it is fixed or a two piece is somehow not in alignment. These mounts remove the torque on the scope (or greatly help to remove the torque on the scope).

I have some $150 rings, and while they are really nice. I have had several instances where I have moved a mounted scope between two rifles and had some flex that the scope didn't like.

There is also the issue of mounting to a rifle like a 700, 98, 70, T3 or other non 1913 rail designed receiver and having some kind of torque caused by the rifle not fitting the rail exactly. If you put on a traditional Redfield mount, dovetail mount or Weaver/1913 mount and you would normally lap those rings to remove that stress. But, when you do that, those rings can not be moved to another rail without being lapped again, as they are only in alignment to the first rifle.

Not saying it won't happen with a saddle mount (I am using the term saddle mount, as it is the one I like not necessarily the most popular one, I am actually not sure what most shooters call these as there are like 20 different names for them).

I can not imagine putting a high dollar scope in anything less.

Price is nice, but they aren't the same level of machining that the Spuhr or Tier Ones are. They look like they are made out of black legos.

How about throwing RRS Uni-block mounts? No one really talking about them. I bet if a big name in the community started using them they would take off like the Spuhr’s did. You know RRS makes quality. If they were priced at $425 they’d probably be more popular than the Spur oddly enough.

Nicely sculpted. I'd prefer Spuhr or Tier One for only $80-100 more.

I love this. LOL! I, myself, have two of those Corvette's and simply cannot imagine why the hell you'd pony up for the Agera...

It is a status symbol the Veyron and Agera. A $100,000 corvette is a nice car, but it is still a middle class car. A $2,000,000 car is a rich man's car.

I have distant family that I personally consider to be worth quite a lot of money. They really don't have a lot of money, but compared to most people they do. They drive a trio of 2-8 year old Ford trucks that look like hell. They do not want to bring attention to themselves.

That same family isn't in the $2 million dollar car bracket, not sure what his net worth is. He sold an oil company for something like $30,000,000 about 10 years ago. Then they bought it back. For about $5,000,000. His son is about 45 and chipping away at killing one of everything on the planet chasing the Weatherby Award.

To most people they have an incredible amount of money.

They bought a ranch, and kind of disappeared like you should.

When you own a Veyron or Agera why do you own it. To show off, to be a big shot. So I would venture that most people that own those cars fall into 2 groups. Celebrities that make 4 or 5 million in one shot and buy the house in Malibu and this kind of car. Or asshole young surgeons who just want to show off and are burning through money like their is no tommorow.

The other group would be the super rich. People that are worth $300million and up that can afford to have private security companies full time, and everyone they know got one of these cars when they turned 18.

My parents were civil servants, but we have long family ties to the area. In the 1950-1970's Jackson Hole was not a rich place. My brothers sells/works with a lot of car collectors. There are 2 types of rich. hint, the super rich that are dropping 10M + on a car dress like you and me and fly under the radar. Unless they are from Dubai that is....

I just wanted to throw the RRS mount into the mix still good quality but less flashy, mostly because it doesnt offer extra attachment points.

I use Spuhr. ERA -TAC and adjustable Ivey mount. I have never had an issues with any of them.

I have 4 of the F3R Machine mounts, 1 Sphur mount, as well several other mounts. The Sphur mount is a very high quality mount, and I can't complain about anything with it. The F3R Machine mounts are half the price of the Sphur, and are 98% of the quality. There are a few things I'd change if my input was considered, but all in all the F3R Machine mounts are a bargain and will be my go to mounts from now on. The owner of F3R Machine is a solid guy too, and he will go above and beyond to make sure customers are happy.

^^ Just looked them up. They look nice, but the height options are rediculous. No 1.45" 34mm, but a lot of oddball 1.25"?

The other height mounts are in the works. This company is still new, and is producing products as fast as it can.

The 1.25" mount is an odd size, but it's perfect for AR platform rifles since there's no need for a cheek riser. The 1.50" (or close to) mounts are only common because of iron sights on AR's for co-witnessing, but is unnecessarily high without irons. I'm happy to have a good option for a mount like the F3R that is available with more height options.
