I’m considering a chassis or stock upgrade for my T1X. I have modified my factory stock for extra weight and rigidity. It shoots very well but I was wondering if anyone has seen accuracy gains by placing the factory barreled action in an aftermarket chassis or stock. If so, what is your recommendation.

The biggest difference you will see in my opinion is ergonomics and the ability to add aftermarket accessories and weights. My son shoots a T1x in a XLR but just about any aftermarket chassis will be an improvement over a factory stock. When it comes to a chassis there is a pretty big range in price so I would pick one that is in your budget and see if you can get behind someone’s rifle at a match in that chassis and see if you like the way it feels.

What discipline are you pursuing? The mechanical accuracy of the barrelled action will probably not change when you put it into chassis. Your ability to easily shoot much more accurately will improve a lot though, especially PRS style shooting in the clock. The features of competitive chassis’s are built around the goals. They are a tool designed for a job, and they work great. Your factory barrel has significant limitations, although many shooters are too cheap to buy ammo that will do better anyway.
It’s about your goals and personal budget. The cheaper chassis’s are built to meet a price point, with critically useful features left out, in order to sell the flagship models to serious competitors. I used a T1X for 3 seasons of Rimfire PRS in an MDT ACC Premier. Most of that was with an aftermarket IBI barrel. The last season was using Eley Match ammo. Next time I would build a CZ, or commission a full on turn key custom build INCLUDING FULL TESTING BEFORE I TOUCHED IT.

Generally shooters try to reinvent the wheel because our experience is assumed to be bullshit.
