I have a innovative arms ldsp. It weighs in at 24oz and is 8" long.
Would the contour on the ctr be a problem with my can? Specs say semi heavy contour. How close would it be to a 700 5r 20" 308 contour?

I'm new to tikkas. Will getting a manners stock to work with the ctr be a problem? Guessing not but it using trg mags made me question it.

Thanks in advance.

the tikkas arent quite as stout as the 5r and not as thin as a remington varmint. Theyre there own contour but semi in between the two. The manners inlet for the varmint ctr barrel channel pretty much fits all the tikkas and remington varmint and medium palma contours.

What are you buying another one for? Especially a 308!
Mainly as a training gun for trigger time - plan is to set it up exactly the same as the .260. I might even shoot it at Upper Nisqually and TCGC - anywhere where the max range is < 600 and stakes aren't high.

I also went crazy and got a cheap used Tikka in .243 when I was at the gun shop picking up the CTR. Its a T3 Lite so I'll just cannibalize it for the receiver and re-chamber it in 6mm sometime next year.

My new Defiance 223 action will be here in a week or two. Building a 223 Ackley for a trainer rifle, much cheaper and easier on you to shoot a lot of rounds for training with ballistics similar to a 6mm inside 500ish. Will probably become my monthly match rifle as well

308 match ammo is easier to find since I don't reload, but I did think of 223 as well. Now I am going to end up with a 223, I just know it :).

For a trainer a 223 is the way to go. Cheap to shoot (comparably) and ballistically good. I'm going to be shooting the 80gr Amax's and I could get to 1k with those if I needed to but mostly it'll be for inside of 600ish

I hear you. Just looked it up on ammoseek and there is decent amount of factory loaded .223 77 gr match ammo so I could probably find some factory ammo that shot decent. I'll shoot 308 over the winter and see how I do - might swap into 223 next year once I burn through my ammo.

Long term solution is to start reloading of course, but that will probably have to wait for another year.

Just out of curiosity, any reason you didn't go with a new 223 bolt and switch barrel your match defiance?

Well because that would require me disassembling my match rifle which I shot far to often to be doing. I'd much prefer to have a separate rifle then a switch barrel...which I'll never end up switching. This is my third or fourth defiance and there will soon be another shortly after this one for a 6.5 SAUM

You getting on the 6.5 SAUM bandwagon? Isn't the recoil a bit heavy for match shooting ? Or is it a dedicated ELR rig?
