Tikka T3 Sporter

Dear Colleagues, as you may have noticed Tikka has released the new version of its sporter. The first question which arises with reference to this model is the following one: apart from new stock what can we say about the barrel? Is this a match-grade barrel, is this a barrel taken from the varmint model or from the tactical one. The second question asked after that (before any official pricing is released) is : why the hack is this so expensive?

No idea. In all likelihood they are not available in the EU yet.

most likely a Tikka Varmint in a fancy stock.

Looks like the new T3 incarnation of the master sporter. I was a big fan of that stock design and will be interested to see how this compares. I wonder what thread patterns they will offer as well.

I really liked the Master Sporter as well. That stock was one of the most confortable, if not the most comfortable. I saw this awhile back on a Sako/Tikka .eu site but no price info if I remember. Hopefully this one makes it over.

I see they put a TRG knob on that bolt too, at least they are paying attention somewhat, although the T3 came out many years ago.

I own a master sporter in .308 and its one of the most accurate rifles i have ever seen. This t3 looks very interesting id love to have one in .223 as a practice gun.

Per Tikka, it's going to be offered in 260 with a 8 twist. I can't imagine them doing that without having the US market in their sights. I have a 223 varmint and love the thing. I might have to have one, or two depending on the price.

If you are talking about the threaded muzzle for muzzle brakes and suppressors then it is M18x1. Its on their website.

I used to have a 595 Master Sporter which I always regeret selling, so I've more than a passing interest in this T3 Sporter.
I contacted the UK importer - no dates for delivery yet, but RRP will be about £1600. This puts it in the same ballpark as a T3 Tactical & I know which stock I prefer.

There is a youtube video 'sneak preview' about this rifle - it helps if you speak Norwegian.

It would appear that its the varmint barrelled action, rather than the tactical.
