Could have gone with a carbon fiber barrel.
The cost of a CF barrel is approaching what I paid for the entire rifle.

I like them a lot. In the pic above with the 4 rifles 2 are MDTs (skinny barrel is a 300 WSM T3X lite in an MDT LSS). Carbon barrel is an MDT LSS-XL Gen 2 long action so I can load the 7 WSM to nearly 3.2" COALHow do you like the XLR's?
Sweet collection at the bottom, specs?
Need to copy your taping of the lens caps, Vortex Defenders right? Find they slip and wobble alot, especially the rear.
Right, but it's the best weight savings without giving up to much with the stock, bottom metal etc.
Alaska is awesome...congrats on the black tail. See any grizzlies when you were hunting?
FGMM and a Triad Tactical stock pack would make your stock CTR a sub-MOA gun that fits you well.
I run a stock CTR 6.5 CM with a Triad Tactical stock pack and reloads and it shoots great. At 100 yards, it shot nearly as well with the Hornady 140 ELD-M factory ammo. Easily sub-MOA.
Tikka CTR into a T3 stock...
What do I need to know?
From my understanding:
-The CTR action and T3 action are the same inlet
-The CTR barrel is of course larger (light palma-ish)
-Using the T3 bottom metal and mags will require a magazine metal clip that the CTR does not have. And sources for this clip?
Anything else?
Trying to see if the CTR can lose a little weight using the lighter T3 stock, bottom metal, and mags.
Are there any metal/better options for retaining the blind mag style of the factory magazine? I’m looking at a 7RM that I want to set up as a stalking gun
Sorry, I should have been clearer in my comments. I’m also looking for a replacement magazine, preferably metal. Thanks for the links though.
So switching from ctr to t3x lite saves 8 ounces.
Take a dump before you go and you'd save more weight.
love that the carbon fiber weave shows through! simply stunning!New stock! In love
and the aussies get the ctr with a adjustable cheek piece, us does notNot always true. The varmint stainless is available in 300 win mag in aus but not in the us.
What's with the pmags? They won't work with the krg chassis eitherAnyone with a mpa chassis tried the MDT mags, I know they say the pmags will not work
I don't know it's a bunch of crap if you ask me I loved the pmags in my other rifle before I sold itWhat's with the pmags? They won't work with the krg chassis either
They dont work with any tikkas without extensive filing of the feed lips to the point of the lips breaking, if at all IIRC. There was some discussion earlier in this thread awhile ago (maybe 20 pages or more) but cant find it.What's with the pmags? They won't work with the krg chassis either
Same, I used them exclusively in my old r700/xlr elementI don't know it's a bunch of crap if you ask me I loved the pmags in my other rifle before I sold it
I guess it has to do with the action profile?I don't know it's a bunch of crap if you ask me I loved the pmags in my other rifle before I sold it
Yes. The underside. Check out post 2290 on page 46.I guess it has to do with the action profile?

Magpul aicsAre you taking about Magpul AICS mags or Magpul Pmags because there is a huge difference between the two. Pmags are meant for AR15/AR10 style rifles and can never work with Tikka's, let alone any other bolt action on the marker aside from Mossberg MVP, the newer Ruger American offering or the nasty Ruger Precision Rifle. Magpul AICS mags can only work with the Tikka action if you remove enough material on the feed lips to get them to seat far enough up for the bolt to reach the round.
Badass paint on the bravo! Just ordered my bravo the other day, can't wait for it to come in!Thank you guys for all the likes .
Here´s few more pictures, maybe i should start to be camera trigger man, than rifle .

Timney makes one, i had their 2 stage calvin elite on my 700 and it was great. But as nice as 2 stage is, the Tikka stock trigger is really good. Are there any 2 stage triggers being made for tikkas

Great looking pair of rifles, congrats!
I am very interested in picking up a Tikka CTR in 223 when/if they come out next year and I must ask:
How would you compare and contrast the two stocks? Bravo/MDT ESS? is either better for use in a particular application, (hunting, table top shooting, prone etc) and do you prefer one over the other?
I am 6'2" with a longish neck, maybe one would be the better fit and looking for clues.
Appreciate it and I would welcome others to share their thoughts on either chassis as well.
Yes. The underside. Check out post 2290 on page 46.
Krg specifically states the magpul aics mags won't work on their Bravo. I wonder why that ksI got them working in my LSS without much trouble. Most of my trimming was to the shoulder, where the wall transitions to the feed lips, adding a chamfer. I did have to take off a bit of the feed lips, mostly where they're thickest, but doesn't seem to be any issue, at least not yet.
Would you post pictures? Original vs modified? I think it'd help others understand what is going on.I got them working in my LSS without much trouble. I spent time looking seriously looking at the T3x CTR and a Tac A1 to purchase around Christmas. I didn’t care much for the chassis on the Tac, so I’d prefer the CTR with the intention of upgrading the stock or putting it in a different chassis a little later.
Rebarreling options with a barrel nut ?
What are some of the pluses / minuses / great things, things to watch out for with these rifles ?
I want to buy once and cry once.
