Proud owner of a new CTRx here. Upgrading a few parts here and there as I go. Question on magazines: I keep hearing people talk about the exorbitant price of CTR magazines. I’m finding them for $85-$90 each, while AICS magazines are 70 to 75. I’m not crazy about paying extra for magazines, but I also don’t need tons of them for a rifle like this so a few extra bucks seems insignificant. What am I missing? Has the price on CTR magazines come way down, or are people finding AICS mags way cheaper than I am, or...???
You're not missing anything. That CTR mags are so expensive relative to AICS has been fake news for years. The CTR mags work great, unless you are looking for a common mag platform there is no need to change. You can find plenty of new CTR mags in the EE from folks who are switching.

For me switching to the KRG Bravo, is there any benefit on waiting for a CTR specific version? I just own the CTRx, and the 1 magazine, so really my cost is just 1 AICS compatible magazine (make sure I choose the right one that works with the Bravo i.e. non pmag)
I see people selling their CTRx stock + magazine for like $75, which for me feels like I'd just keep it in case I want to go back to a light hunting rifle stock.
Some of the complaints about CTR mag prices probably came from Europe, we have or had to pay over 150Euro for a mag which is getting close to 200 US. I get MDT mags for 50 Euro. The other reason is that many seasoned shooters have a load of AICS mag lying around from other rifles like myself. I use a CTR with the original mag and get on fine with it however also have an Atlasworx floorplate for that rifle that will take AICS and can swop to use either system in the rifle. You are probably better off sticking with the original mags. get one spare.Proud owner of a new CTRx here. Upgrading a few parts here and there as I go. I added another Tikka to the herd!! This is my first one that takes AICS mags, where’s the cheapest place to get them?

I caught MDT mags on sale at Brownells with a coupon and Free Shipping netted me $60 each for 10 round mags

Pretty much mate,I have not seen that before, so is this what you would need to do to easily be able to change out your own barrels so you can switch calibers easily? kind of like Accuracy International?
Does anyone know what type of screw the rail on the Tac A1 chassis uses? I am trying to remove mine and I don’t have a screwdriver of the right size, and I can’t even tell if they are hex or Torx.
Also, does the recoil lug go with the chassis or the action?
Where would one procure such hardware?I'm not sure what is working for everyone, but this wrench has solved the sticky factory barrel removal issue. It has been a much better solution than putting the action in a vice or using a Remington wrench because it provides View attachment 7089266purchase on the action's sides and top. I'm looking forward to WTO's tikka offereing and hearing from those who will use it. I've been very impressed with their rem 700 switch lug.
They are talking about doing a Bravo that will take the factory Tikka CTR magazines instead of AICS mags.
It's been discussed ad nauseam in here for over a year and still no sign of it.....
@HOLLYW00D I just spoke with Tim at Solid Accuracy about his Tikka Pre-fit barrels. He recommended the wheeler type action wrench flipped upside down so there are two flat spots. Brownell's has the same design for 39 bucks.

You didn’t run into any trigger/safety binding from swapping chassis? I ran into issues swapping from Tac A1 to Bravo chassis, because of the safety catch rubbing on the inside of the trigger housing.
The safety is fine but the bolt release is a little sticky.
Did they put the polymer or aluminum trigger housing on the Bravo for T3 versions? My Whiskey 3 has the aluminum trigger guard. Maybe thats the difference?
My entire trigger housing/guard is aluminum. I won't be back home till next week but can take some pictures to compare.
Has anyone here ever tried stiffening the forend on the factory t3x stock? Goal is to get it stiff enough to install a rail for an Atlas bipod. I've already ordered the wider forend attachment to double it up a bit.
Debating trying to bond carbon arrow shafts or lay in some fiberglass (if I can get it to stick anyway) like I did with my usgi fiberglass stock on an M14 type rifle.
My Nuke build has taken over the range role and my CTR is getting pushed to being a bush beater, so lighter is better and I'd rather not drop more money into it as my new 223 T3 varmint is probably going to get shot more often.
The CTR was designed to use the Sako TRG-22 magazine. Click here to see its $250 MSRP: https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/sako-trg-magazine-blued/s574038/I keep hearing people talk about the exorbitant price of CTR magazines. I’m finding them for $85-$90 each .... What am I missing?

Even the typical discounted internet price for a TRG-22 mag is around $180. Which is ridiculous when compared to the cost of an entire CTR, so a couple years ago, they started making a much cheaper ($85) mag for the CTR (and the TAC-A1).
The new mags are just slightly different from the old: Instead of forming the floor of the magazine by neatly folding the metal sides under, they make the new mags with an open bottom, which they then close with a plastic floorplate that's just wide enough to prevent the mag from seating in a TRG-22 magwell. Ha ha, TRG-22 owners keep getting screwed.
The talk you're hearing is from people who didn't get the memo about the new mags.
I don't think that's true. I bought a TRG-22 mag to compare to my TAC-A1 mags (and then sold it at a loss: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/sako-trg-22-22a1-magazine-new-120.6936025), because I suspected that the TRG must be better in some way.And the fact that in most cases, the magazines aren’t solid and wobble. I just had to do the relief cut mod with a screwdriver because of failing to feed issues on my Tac A1.
Anyone tried opening up a T3 stock to accept the CTR barreled action? Thinking of giving this a go so I can use the more flush T3 mags in hunting situations.
T3 and CTR stocks look like the share the exact same width forend, so should have enough meat to accommodate the light Palma CTR.
