Timney trigger problems with stiller tac 300

Wondering if anyone has had this problem. I have a stiller tac300 action with a timney trigger. When the trigger is installed in the action it has side to side movement and front to back. Enough to see the trigger assembly move in the stock. My gunsmith says it is more than normal. So I sent the trigger back to timney and they were great and very welling to send me another one. Well the same thing happened when I got the new trigger. The action pins will fall stright through the trigger assembly holes. The stock that I am using is a manners t4 with the mini chassis. Has anybody had this type of experiance? Should I get my money back from timney and get a jewel?

I dont think it is a timney problem! I would look at your other components first.

I have a bunch of timneys and they are great triggers.

So should I get stiller to send me a new set of action pins to see if that is the problem? Thanks

It sounds like the opening in the action is wider than the trigger housing allowing it to move side to side. New pins may help, or stake the one's you have in the action to keep them from falling stright though. Remember the pins can not be bigger than the openings in the trigger housing. I would contact Stiller to see what they recommend for you.

Should the pins beable to fall through the trigger housing? I understand the pins have to be smaller than the housing holes but I thought it would be more of a tighter fit between the action pins and the trigger housing. Thanks

They should go with thumb pressure or light tapping with a nylon hammer. They shouldn't fall though the action however. Turn the action upside down and take a picture showing the trigger in the action and post it, it would be easier to comment if we could see what you are talking about.

The trigger pins are a standard 1/8 inch dowel pin that is the same size that remington uses. The opening width is also the same width as a remington trigger such that all triggers made to fit a rem will work. We have not had issue with the Timneys I had made for us. That part should be the same. Our timney trigger has a longer sear bar that matches the remington, jewells and shilens so that firing pin fall is not lost.

PS. The pins will easily push in the action and should not require hammering if no trigger is present. IF they are looser than that, call us. We put a go-nogo gauge in every one.

sorry to necro-post but I didn't want to start a new post where this one seemed to apply. I just got my new stiller tac30 actions and I wanted to try out the huber trigger in them. I tried to drift the pins out of the action and thew wouldn't budge. there is an obvious side that is wider than the other side (therefore you should push from the other side) but, like I said, they won't budge. Does anyone have a recommendation? I read up a couple of posts that they should come out without having to hit with a hammer when there is no trigger installed. This is not the experience that I am having.

I just got a Tac30 on Friday and had to tap out the trigger/sear pins from the action with a punch. It didn't take much to move them.
