with that out of the way, a total eclipse today / tomorrow throughout most of america.

a google search will provide times depending on where you are.

a good oppurtunity to test effects of eclipse on bullet drift

Re: TOTAL ECLIPSE TODAY / TOMORROW

Just got home from viewing it, I was up on the peak above the Griffith Observatory, next peak over from the Hollywood sign, the Observatory was packed, but it wasn't too bad up where we were, decent amount of people. We hiked up with some good food, wine, and those viewing glasses, had a great time, it was about an 82% eclipse where we were, temps dropped dramatically, was pretty cool. We shared our glasses with other people and this family had a pinhole box camera that was pretty neat.

We drove to the exact center of the pathway, north of Susanville CA. Out in the desert we had the perfect 100% ring of fire. so good.
While there, we were pretty much alone, but on the way out, we ran into a family at the Drakesbad rest stop who didn't have viewing googles. We showed their little kids how to use them, and were rewarded with the politest of thanks. Had to be around age 6 or so, so we were quite pleased.

Re: TOTAL ECLIPSE TODAY / TOMORROW

The path came right through Albuquerque so we were hanging out with a bunch of people and had a couple of filtered telescopes. I brought along my binoculars with special filters also. Fun stuff! Got this photo by holding my phone up to the binoculars. The light was really weird - it was darker for sure, and kind of "sunset-like" but the sun was still up in the sky.
