North Idaho
Felt the explosion as did everyone in a 10 mile radius, but rumor mill saying an explosion at the train depot left at least one dead and other cars on fire. My tinfoil hat is screwed on tight, but I’m hoping this isn’t related to the railroad strike stuff/sabotage etc… early reports said earthquake, then possibly the explosion set off the sensors.

Pretty serious explosion. I was locking up our shop and it went off. I’m hearing all sorts of conflicting information right now, but holy hell, all the neighbors were out And wondering what it was. I thought it may have been a local house that the neighbors refer to as Methlehem, but no such luck…could be some serious implications here locally.

What city?

Rathdrum?

The train depot is just west and a little south of Rathdrum proper and north east of post falls. It’s all growing together, but closer to Rathdrum. Not quite sure what to believe at the moment, hearing everything from train explosion, gas main explosion… meteor…. All sorts of stuff. One neighbor said that it registered 4.2 on the Richter scale… again not sure, but could be. It shook windows for a long ways. Kinda funny how many reports I’m reading, but one was supposedly second hand from a guy who works at the train depot

We live in a pretty good neighborhood, most of the houses are $500K and up. Around the corner and up the street, the DEA and FBI raided a house a few months ago. Not sure of the details, but the people were renting the place, some kind of big drug bust...when the feds "cleaned" up the property, they even sprayed the entire yard to kill the lawn. I might just a naive dumbass, but I never would have expected a drug house around the corner...maybe the druggies are setting up in more prominent locations to hide in plain sight.

This area, 5ac bare ground were selling for $400k last year. There’s still a few of the older holdouts, but even the single wide trailers on ground were pretty valuable. Methlehem is well known and there’s no pretense regarding what they do there. 8’ chain link fences all around, plenty of cars that are “gonna get fixed up”, etc… the ol boy across the street from them owns an excavation company and caught some of their “customers “ stealing batteries. The ol boy basically told the property owner to not shit where you live and now we don’t have any problems with them.

Quakes generally don't create a fireball reflection in the sky followed by a blast wave.

New England quakes, the two I can say I felt, were either the impression there is an oil truck parked on your lawn idling but when you look - nothing.

The other was a sharp, quick, deep explosion sound as the plates released but did not move enough to really feel.

May not be drug related. They were probably at the capital on Jan 6th.

A google search indicates Sept 6, 2019, double large explosion in the same general area (Reported by North Idaho News) with no source identified. Thought to be near the Spokane River....

Methinks someone is screwing with the neighbors? Maybe its the Alphabets practicing for their January 2023 campaign against McCarthy?

If you are talking about Kevin McCarthy then he is one of them. They won’t attack their own.

Booger Man,,,,,

No idea. One of the lines in the fire dept Twitter feed report said that the light was from the power plant in that area…. The lights on that plant don’t flash at all. They’re steady on and steady steam. Looks like a forest fire from a distance, but it’s not. I didn’t personally see a flash, but the videos posted definitely had a flash. The tannerite remark was referencing a previous post implying that a couple rednecks and a case of coors may have done something…. “Allegedly”

When I was in high school, before the KKK was pretty much made irrelevant, there were several Aryan groups in that area. There was an Aryan Church right on US95 between CDA and Hayden...Dalton area about where the mall is now, if I remember correctly, that proudly displayed various things on its sign for all to bear witness.
It was not uncommon at all to hear LOTS of M60, M16 and Kalishnakov. What I am pretty sure were grenades could be heard on the rare occasion. I was home from on a long pass one weekend, skiing, and was approached to join one of the brotherhoods. My WW2 veteran ancestors would have disowned me.
While not as prevalent/active as they were 40 years ago, that sentiment and followers are still there. It could be that one or more of the groups is just out for some training time.

Does tannerite produce a flame front/yellow explosion?

R
Ah.. yes!

My only real exposure is using it on night training where it was a good 'Yes you hit the target' thing.

Shooting a pound of it next to a county lockup on a training op is really fun!

It produces a loud bang. A nice flame. And an overpressure wave that, in the right quantity, knocks suspended ceiling tiles down from a county lockup.

Yes, that happened. Not my fault... I only shot at the target.

Anyhoo... if someone lit off a 5 gallon bucket of that stuff in Idaho... it could be hilarious!

How much fun would it be to start lighting that stuff off in all four corners of the country as a fun way of saying "Hi... we're here and love to make loud noises!" In a purely peaceful manner, of course.

What that would do is get Tannerite banned in 3-2-1.............
