Yeah. I practically threw away an AI AXSR at the loss I took on my way back to Sako.
I love the rifle, its been good to me including a 1st round hit on a 5inch circle at 1000yrds and a 1st round hit at 1250yrds. My skill as a shooter has gone to shit since I had my first child and never get to practice anymore, but the TRG has been there for me in all but 2 of my PRS matches. Some of which where in pretty shitty weather.
How do those conversions shoot? Ammo picky? Always figured a barrel nut would have more runout than a shouldered barrel but maybe I’m wrong. Do you have to take the action out of the stock to change a barrel? Not the OP of that pic, but I have had one.
It shot just like a shouldered barrel.
I had a smith measure my action for prefits and get them with wrench flats now instead since i can unscrew them in the field easily.
I didn't have any issues with installation and no special inletting was needed. It was easier taking the action off of the chasis, though I did have to get the barrel that came on the gun professionally removed as it was on crazy tight. I'm not sure if it is as accurate as the aftermarket barrel that came on the gun, but that one was getting up over 3k rounds on it.
Its hard for me to judge accuracy of anything these days since my shooting is cut by 2/3rds.

Only five? I'm up to eight... 22 and 42/M995 combined though.
I had it fold once during a PRS match (thankfully during the load and make ready portion), and honestly I haven't needed to fold it otherwise. Its one of their early stocks and I think the locking latch is a little worn. So I just wish it was the fixed version because it is offering me functionality that I haven't needed yet.
This is good info… I’m looking at the KRG folder for that TRG-22 although I keep thinking to myself that I’ll never have a reason to fold it and maybe the fixed option is better. But then I go back and realize that at that price I might as well just go for the folder anyway.
In the meantime I found some STL files for spacers and am going to play with adjustments on the stock first.

I hated my AXSR. It was sold at a $4000 loss and I was happy to see it gone.
I love my TRG-42 .338 LP and the other one I have in .300WM.
This was taken in Alaska with my .338LP hunting Caribou. I later took that rifle to Spearpoint and shot at their 2,000 yard steel with Branden and Dalton.

MDT did a test on that on YT.
Some warning for guys intending to use MC7 bore cleaner. Waiting for answer from Beretta/Sako. 10 Strokes forward/backward with a nylon brush were enough to do that to the phosphate finish.
First rifle i ever had Problems with MC7.
Considered a M10, absolutely done with that idea at the moment. Very disappointing.

Looks like somebody didn't ph test their cleaning solution for compatibility with phosphate.
Says explicitly on the can:
Bore cleaner.
Use phosphor bronze brush.
Removes plastic.
I'm a bit sorry for you, but live and learn I guess. Even if MC7 is ph neutral, who knows what happens when it dissolves the nylon brush.
I would not decide on what rifle to buy based on faulty application of a bore cleaner? Just like a blued gun should not be handled after just having peeled an orange.

You guys are absolutely right. As i stated it is my bad, just sharing to warn others who might be affected.
I usually triple check what i use, since i use mc7 bore cleaner with all my rifles and consider it a moderate solvent i did not hesitate to use it with the TRG.
The brush shouldnt be the issue? Its the solvent. However, no coating ever had problems. I expect something more robust on a rifle like that. Its fixable so no harm anyways.

I would recommend not using a nylon bore brush. I'd have to hunt for the posts/threads around here but I believe one or more barrel manufacturer recommends not using a nylon brush. I could be wrong.
Finalizing the TRG 22 after the little cleaning desaster

Think i will have to add a Picatinny rail for the scope to make it work with a thermal device in front of the scope.
Waiting for Bikini Covers for the scope aswell. Was looking for the longer chassis inlet but it seems out of production. Went for the alternative mount.
Only silencer and height spacers missing now. Dont think the spacers would be needed at the moment.

After months of back and forth i finally decided to order a Sako M10. Just feel like i have to try the M10 to see how it works out. A nearby shop had one and everytime i went there i thought about taking her home. Tried several times, switched caliber once, dry fired etc.
My TRG 22 and 42 are incredible shooters, although i dislike chassis, i simply couldnt resist in the end when i saw the M10.
When i went in to finally buy the damn thing for the sake of my mental health, it was gone of course and now i need to wait about 9-12 months
So expect next pictures around christmas time again

I will post a detailed review as soon as it arrives mate. Plus another one after around 2000 shots fired to see how it works for me.
Will compare it to the AW/AWSM and the older TRG green models. Pretty curious on how it will work out.

Can anyone tell me how the barrel on the 22a1 is attached to the action? I've seen pressed, then I've seen it takes standard barrels, then I've seen they have to be sent to sako.... I've never heard of a pressed barrel outside of 22rf.

The assembly looks like the standard affair. I’d expect it’s assembled just the same as a TRG22, threaded with some heat hijinks to get clamping forces stupid.
It’s pressed in, they will rebarrel them later but it will have to go back to Finland
That's an answer I was not hoping for. Hopefully someone has pulled a barrel to see?

You sure about that? I was told the A1 is just the same old TRG barreled action in the new chassis which would make it threaded in just like any other TRG.
I would bet money it’s the same as the OG TRG22 which is M27x1.5 thread

Nope. It's the same action and barrel as in the old 22 and 42 sans A1. It's threaded. It can be stupidly tight but still threaded.
The manual says in the SYSTEM COMPONENTS section:
"BARRELED RECEIVER
The barreled receiver is the traditional TRG 22/42 part (fig. 6). The accessory rail is attached to the top of the
receiver. The rail normally has a 30 MOA forward cant. The rail is manufactured according to Stanag 4694 (NAR,
Nato accessory rail) and is also MIL STD 1913 (Picatinny) compatible. The TRG 22/42 A1 features a free-floating,
cold-hammer forged heavy barrel for extreme accuracy. The barrel has an M18x1 muzzle thread for suppressor or
muzzle brake attachment."

Cool so basically now we have to pay another 2500 bucks for a trg22 with a new chasis on top of what we used to pay for the old gun with the existing stock haha yayyyy. Sure it’s a nicer gun. But heavier tho too
If you have an old trg you would just be better off throwing it in a KRG if you wanted something different. Starting from nothing the costs were near the same for me when buying a Old trg and putting it in a krg vs the A1. As for price for a new A1 vs what the original trgs went for id say that's a wash. Even my AI I bought back in 16 went up over 2k in price for the same gun.
Either way the a1 had everything I wanted, right folder, chassis similar to a cadex, proven 3 lug 60deg, nice 2 stage trigger. Wanted something new next to my AI.
Yeah I would tend to agree. Still wondering if the krg folder stock is worth the money. The damn price went up to 900 new. Little stupid
Yea their folder alone is a pretty penny considering you can get the entire W3 chassis for a trg for $50 more for non folder and like $150 more for a folder. My plan was a full W3 chassis if I found a "cheap" trg22 as a donor. There is one in the PX I was ready to pull the trigger on but he didn't have the trigger guard which you need. Couldn't source one as a replacement.
