Tricked out Rem700 bolt

Here's a Remington 700 bolt we've done most of our bolt mods to...

3 ringed Varminter knob, Hollowed
Shroud mod
Handle reinforcement
Whole bolt cerakoted H series FDE

That 3 ringed Varminter knob is my favorite, and our most popular knob. I wouldnt get it hollowed though. I like the feel of them solid.
The handle reinforcement and shroud mod is just cosmetic... but they sure do look kool!

We're now using H series cerakote and its coming out GREAT!

Other mods to consider would be a light weight firing pin, like an aluminum shafted one, or a titanium one. They claim to reduce locktime by 25-30%... and they sure do feel nicer when you dry fire(less vibration, noise, etc.)



We do not offer bolt fluting. We aren't fans of fluting. I've seen it cause problems, and it helps nothing.

Can I ask what kind of problems you see come up with bolt fluting? Just curious. I don't have the money for cosmetic modifications anyways. Stupid college...

Ive seen fluting make a bolt that used to run smoothly, run "chattery" or "hick-upy" in the raceway.

And my 50 for example, is fluted, and it lets more dirt into the action because the flutes let it in. If it wasnt fluted, not as much dirt would get in.

Never seen fluting help anything. But Ive seen it cause problems.

It a guy has to have fluting, light fluting would be best. Spiral on the bolt. Straight on the barrel. And shallow. But from what Ive seen, I doubt Ill ever own anything fluted... Barrel or bolt.

3 rings just cause I had them. They fit so why not.

Do you have a .260 Rem AI 40* reamer?
Or maybe a 6.5/300 WSM reamer?

We dont have either of those reamers in stock but we could order the 260AI if you wanted.

The WSM we wont build. Not to open up a discussion on this, but we dont like WSM cartridges. Just go with a traditional magnum in a long action. More practical. Better feeding. Real magnum power.
WSM arent the cats meow in our opinion.

Been there and done that. The "standard", common cartridges are the best in our opinion....
We dislike any type of firing forming, dislike short magnums, and we dislike ultra magnums under .338.

Those cartridges are our favorite to work with. And we feel they can accomplish any mission out there. No case work is needed. Magazines are readily available without modification. The all feed and cycle perfectly.


Of course we work with many, many more cartridges and have something like 30 different reamers in stock. But those are cartridges we consider to be work horses... Tried and proven. Easy to load for and no special case work is needed.


Good example... I just built a 300 Rogue or a guy. Its a modified 300win mag case. Sure it looks neat and has more case capacity, but if you put it up against a 300wm, the better shooter will win every time.
Nothing against "specialty" cartridges, we gladly will build them, I just personally dont think the extra case work is worth it.

Would I save anything by not having you cerakote the bolt? I have 2 Remingtons that I'd like to have bolt knobs on. I do my own cerakote BTW.

Good looking knob. I do have an observation on fluting. I have shot matches in the rain and muck and not had function problems, I have a fluted bolt and yes debris get in them but I figure it would have jammed the action up if the debris didn't have a place to go. Like you I have seen all of them puke, AI, surgeon, stiller etc. But my loose fluted rem bolt/actions have functioned flawlessly. Can't say much for the operator! But I think the fluting is a plus, I am also not a plan of painting the bolt barrel, drags to much until you wear it in.

Remingtons are $70 even if not getting cerakote.

With the recent price drop, all other discounts go away. Its always $70 per Rem700 bolt and $100 per "other" bolt, whether we coat the knobs or not, and whether you send one or five.

Shroud mods are $30. So are handle reinforcements.

Turn around time on bolt work is 2-5 days depending on how much you have done. Full bolt cerakote can add a day or two.
