Gents, I would like to solicit your thoughts regarding 5.56 cans. I have my eye on a couple, and keep going back and forth on which path to take.
The lineup: Ops Inc 15th Model; Sincerco Saker; AAC SR-5
The requirements: I want the best. Needs to work down to 10.5", and equally up to 16". Weight is not a huge consideration, but still important. A nice balance of performance and maneuverability are of interest. I do not have a full auto, but would like to know I can dump a magazine at a group of pigs without concern.
General Use: Pig Slaying...sometimes from a stand / advantage point...often on the stalk / on the run through thick east texas brush.
My struggle: The Ops Inc is tried and true. I like their durability and performance. I don't like that I have to install a brake, or custom fit a collar to my barrel. I need help getting over this "nit-pick". Do I just have sand in my vagina...or am I thinking correctly given that new products are about to hit the market? The SilencerCo is 2nd in line for me. I love the new mounting system, etc. I HATE that we know nothing about the damned thing. Is there any reason to wait for data. The risk with new technology is that it can fall short of expectations. Whereas the Ops Inc is a known quantity. However, I find myself asking: "Is the Ops Inc past its time"? Obviously, other manufacturers have caught on to the need for a tapered mounting surface to align the suppressor to the bore (minimize POI shift)....so I'm going in circles wondering if the newer technology is the way to go. If SilencerCo and AAC had not released info on new products this year...I would have already pulled the trigger on the Ops Inc.
I would be grateful for any Ops Inc owners to comment on shooting with just the brake (no suppressor attached). Comfortable? Bad range etiquette? Hands down, just get it and shut up?
As well, anyone with thoughts on the newer products (SilencerCo) would be greatly appreciated as well.
I didn't have such a problem picking a .308 platform...as I wanted a thread on can. Thanks for any guidance / help you might offer.
