so i am building a tactical rifle. have read reviews about how jewell triggers fall apart under rough conditions, so that cancels them from the list. i have narrowed it down to rifle basix, and timney. input/advice on which is better of the two would be great.

Re: triggers

They will both work. Just like Rob01 said in your other post. It's really just up to you to decide which one will fit you the best for your application and the trigger weight you desire.

Re: triggers

I've had all that you mentioned. Since you don't like Jewel, I would go with the Timney. It is virtually a toss up between it and Rifle Basix to me, but I like the trigger shoe on the Timney better.

Re: triggers

see if you can find one to try out. i know some people that love the really wide shoe and some that absolutely hate it.

if you go the timney route and find out you think its too wide, i believe underground skunkworks will reprofile the trigger shoe to make it a more normal size.

Re: triggers

No experience with the Rifle Basix, but plenty with the Timney. I don't think you will go wrong with one. I have several Jewells also, and I have never had a problem with any of them either. From your choices and my experience, I would lean towards Timney, though of recent I have been kicking around the idea of a Rifle Basix.

Re: triggers

I have always used Timney, on both Remingtons and Weatherbys. I usually hunt in rough conditions and my gear gets a hard time as a result. I find them to be very durable, they don't tend to rust or loosen with a few side impacts when being carried about. They remain easy to adjust when required, and don't lose their settings either.

They remain crisp and sharp to fire as well, and the fact I never really have to think about how my trigger 'feels' anymore speaks to their repeatablity and quality.

I suggest Timney.

Re: triggers

I have run them both in Remington 700's and much prefer the feel of the Timney trigger.

Maybe I jut jot a bad apple with Rifle Basix, but it has crep and not as crisp of a break.
