As someone said in a different thread recently, the years of constant public shaming and doxxing by the Left and the MSM have had the unintended consequence of causing Conservatives to hide their beliefs/intentions. As @armorpl8chikn said, we hang up immediately on pollsters because we've learned not to telegraph our positions so we don't get hung out to dry. The reason the polls were so wrong in 2016 is because Trump voters didn't answer polls, and that was before you'd get attacked just for wearing a red ball cap in public. How much worse is it now?? The Left didn't learn from 2016 and, as they always do, just doubled-down on their tactics. Yes, I'd like to see polls with Trump ahead, but I doubt we will. Also, as stated in the article, he's fighting an opponent who's literally hiding in his basement because he's trying to cover up his advanced senility. At some point he'll have to come out and try and defend his ultra-Left policies (which he doesn't even understand), and the polls will likely tighten as independents begin to realize just what a zombie he has become.

However, fraud and corruption in counting votes / vote by mail, rigged voting machines etc., highly concerns me with the upcoming election. Corruption abounds on both sides of the aisle, & why we cant have national voter ID and term limits in Congress boggles my mind.

Mine says that Trump is in trouble right now; he's struggling to communicate any sort of message or plan, and Biden is at least keeping quiet and not yet digging a deeper hole. If Trump can hold on until the debates, the picture will improve, but at this time the never-Trump wing of the GOP has its knives out. Trump needs to prioritize, surround himself with good people, leave to dirty work to others, and communicate clearly and plainly.

Instead of worrying about polls, we can help by making appeals to swing voters and undecideds. Don't waste your time on the 40% that won't vote for Trump or the 40% that absolutely will vote for him.

Y'all keep in mind that the DNC isn't run by the far left, but rather the fairly typical center-left interests who are extremely friendly to the FIRE (finance/insurance/real estate) industry as well as a bunch of other relatively normal special interests. They spent a lot of time and effort getting voters to accept Sleepy Joe over the progressive choices such as Warren and Sanders, so don't expect that they will pair Biden with some sort of flaming leftist and then watch him get overthrown a few months into his first term.

Now, Kamala is presumably not all that far to the left. Yeah, she talks the talk and has the benefit of being a black female, but when it comes down to it she's a law-and-order control freak who can be depended upon to keep money flowing to the correct parts of the military-industrial complex, put plenty of scofflaws behind bars (particularly those who are scary to rich people), embrace any free trade that makes rich people richer, and not threaten the masters of the financial system. And if she isn't deemed worthy of those tasks, the DNC will find someone who is.

I don't know where Michelle Obama lies relative to these priorities. We know that Barack was pretty damn friendly to the correct special interests (didn't crack down on the banks post-2008, kept spending money on the military and stirring up shit in the right parts of the world, played around with tax rates to screw with the right types of individuals and small business without materially affecting any friendly big business, made sure that we kept a sufficient number of young men in jail).

The biggest reason to vote for Trump is that the interests served by a mainstream Democrat like Biden (or hell, by mainstream Republicans) are not the same as the interests of the common citizen, and largely Trump does not serve those interests.

I actually am getting a little concerned. My wife, who has been a Trump supporter, has lately turned against him because she thinks he's a bully and saying stupid stuff all the time. It's gonna be a wild ride to Nov. 3rd, especially if we find ourselves choosing between two candidates that are neither Trump nor Biden. Chew on that possibility for a moment and ponder the potential immediate local impact.

I can see Trump dropping out if, say, the stock market finally starts to reflect economic reality (which will give him the ability to drop and then immediately shit-talk whomever does win the election; something along the lines of "see, I told you so-and-so was going to ruin everything I created!").

It's obvious that Biden may not make it through the campaign. If he can't even bumble his way through softball questions with NBC, what happens in a debate with Trump? Is there a "mercy rule" in these debates that would halt things early? Can a cornerman throw in the towel? It's gonna be messy, and the DNC has got to recognize this fact even through their haze of anti-Trump fury.

Less clear is who would replace each man. Biden was already the best possible choice for the DNC (which is controlled largely by the finance industry and military-industrial complex, and not the leftists we see in public). So it's not like they just go to the primary runner-ups, because Bernie and Warren threaten the powers-that-be. The RNC has no real structure or hierarchy beyond Trump. To the extent that a traditionalist Never Trump wing still exists, it's populated by milquetoast figures like Mitt Romney who are in turn supported by nobodies such as Bill Kristol. Trump flat-out murdered an entire generation of potential GOP candidates during the 2016 primary, and no one from that contest can effectively contest him or even step into his shoes if he declines a second term (go ahead, try to prop up Jeb Bush or Chris Christie and see how that goes). Yeah, Pence could step in much as McCarthy did in '68, but that doesn't seem like a strong move. Might be the only move remaining on the board, though.

Those that remember their modern history will recall that the '68 election didn't produce its candidates until August, so we've got plenty of time yet for this thing to go sideways.
