Holy shit, that is plum crazy and precisely the reason why I'm reluctant to purchase a can. I can't imagine having my money tied up for damn near a year.

That is a good reason to use another dealer. If the assholes cant call you when your stamp comes then use a dealer that will. My first dealer said he was to busy to call me so i had to call him. I did from when it went through till it hit his desk. 7 days. He was more than glad to have me pick it up. I now use a dealer that is much more personable.

That's the reality now and it will only get worse.

My First 2 cans took all of 8 weeks like clockwork. We had a great examiner. Then the examiner shuffle happened and about 4 other states joined the suppressor friendly listing and 6mos to nearly a year is what you're in for. Something tells me that there is going to be a time where 8 months will seem short before anything gets better.

My last transfers all took at least 6 months and one 8 months.

I would say come July 2012 the NFA/ATF is going to get a reality check and changed will be made for the better. People are tired of this treatment and industry professionals are getting their money fooled around with. You can't make a living when your product is tired up for 6-8 months at a time. You have to STAND UP for what is right and challenge the government. Suppressors should be taken off the list of items that require a tax stamp and ATF approval.

Re: Trust wait time

Unless you want to open your wallet and pay for some more NFA employees, there are only nine (down from 15) people working the desks processing NFA paperwork and there are over a hundred thousand applications annually on a market growing in volume. This is probably one area of government where there is a specific lack of manpower, not an excess of warm bodies twiddling their thumbs. Two years ago the Form 4 took me 6 weeks. I've for two right now and I don't expect to see them until Christmas time. Even Form 3 transfers are up to 5 weeks. I suspect it'll keep getting worse until they hire or shuffle mote folks in.
