I was fishing up on the Kitimat River in Northern B.C. with a buddy one time. There is vehicle access, and guys would drive their truck/camper rigs out onto the gravel beach. They'd pound rebar pole holders into the beach, cast their line out, which included the lure and a big triangle weight on it. The weight would dig into the bottom and the lure would stay in one place. They'd then tie a bell to the tip of the rod and promptly take their old lady into the camper for a bang.
So my buddy and I are standing in the river just downstream from one of them. The camper's rockin', a 35 pound Chinook hits, the bell starts goin' apeshit. The door of the camper flies open, a half naked Canuck with a boner comes rushing out the door, trying to put his pants on and get to the rod before the Chinook rips it out of the pole holder and heads downstream with all his gear. We were awestruck and laughing our asses off all at the same time. And yes, he did land the fish. I doubt he ever got his belt buckled though.........
