Trying to decide on the M1 turrets (1MOA clicks) versus the target turrets (1/4 MOA). I live in the northeast and I don't really know of many ranges in my area beyond 200 yards; think the target turrets are right for me?

M3 is the 1moa click. I had an older MK4 M3, and at 100 yards my zero was either a half inch high or a half inch low. It is just how it worked out in my case. I prefer 1/4 moa or 1/10 mil adjustments myself.

I've used the M1 .25 MOA turrets for years and I like them, but I keep finding myself lusting after the FDE Mark 4 with M2 (.5 MOA BDC) turrets. Something about getting there with half the number of clicks sounds good to me! My service rifle and my Vintage Sniper rifle both have .5 MOA adjustments and they seem to do just fine, so maybe that's part of it.

I have had the m1,m2,m3,m5 and the tall target turrets. If you are looking for a budget optic, go with the 4.5x14x40 lrt with capped 1/4 target turrets and send it back for the new MOA reticle . Should be under 800 when done.
I actually prefer the capped target turrets as they do not get bumped off as often as all are non locking, have a ltr with m3 and I am always 1/2-3/4 up or down, as the 1 moa is harder to get dead on. the m2 were nice but are only set up to be on a 3.5x10x40 unless they have changed in the past week as I wanted a 4.5x14 changed to m2..

good luck, if Mil or LE be sure to contact Leupold first, as they have a decent discount
