i currently run a 1:8 twist in a 26 inch 6.5x47 Lapua barrel. Planning ahead for a new barrel as they seem to take a very long time to secure.
Wondering if there might be an accuracy advantage to different twist rates. The barrel companies offer 1:7.5, 1:8 and 1:8.5 options.
i understand that heavier/longer projectiles generally perform better / stabilize optimally with faster twist rate barrels....but as i do not hunt and will only shoot paper or steel to at most 1400 yards and generally at 100-500 yard ranges is there an optimal twist rate with regard to accuracy?
