Rifle Scopes Ultra M3A Scope Question

Hello. I was refered here from AR15.com because of the scope in question.
I have a Leupold Ultra 10X M3A mildot scope that says it is set for 7.62mm M118 ammo. Came with steel rings and an aluminum ARD Killflash. Both lens are free of any scratch and only very light wear to the scope adjuster covers.
Is this still a good scope? Is it in any demand and would it be a sound choice for mounting on a Remington 700P .308?
Any info would be welcome. Any fair market price would be welcome as well.

So are you saying that this would not be a good optic for my GP use? Is it of interest to collectors only?
How old is this based on what you see in the pix?

So I got a 19yr old scope that I am better off finding a collector that wants it than using it for a build. Great......still at square 1.

If the scope is in good condition, it is very useful, as long as you're using ammunition that has the same trajectory as M118 from an M24. Otherwise the elevation knob becomes a "best guess" device.

If you're not attached to it sentimentally, you can get a more versatile scope for what you could sell the M3A for to a collector.

Well I feel no attachment at all to this, but I thought it would be a good piece of gear. To me it weights more that I really like and the rings are heavy as well.
I guess I need to play 20 questions? Is this a collector here item or do I need to go to EBay or Gunbroker if I sell this to find something else? What the heck is the thing average as far as price?
I am a Aimpoint/ACOG guy that likes black guns and like I said I was refered here from where I usually prow on ARFCOM. The only bolt gun I have is a Rem 700P LTR in .223 and I have a Nikon mounted on it and love it.

That's from when Leupold made good scopes!
Fair market value? I'd guess around $800 (enough Army folks out there that would be comfy with the M24 optic).

this scope gives 1 moa per click its a bit too much for precision shooting scope but it was designed as a sniper rifle scope for combat snipers to ranges of up to 1000 meter and if you learn your bullet drop at each distance it can be used as a hunting or steel knocker with very very good results its not as glamour as S&B USO or PH but it's clear the tracking is very good and at least as durable as any of them so put it on you Remingon 700 it's a match made for the worst of the battelfields and stood them all.
you can get rings from leupold to match any bullet and speed combination you like or just learn your ammo drop from your rifle by heart and you are more then good to go

Thank you all for the replies. Sounds like a good durable optic that is better than some but depending on what you are doing is not as good as others. I would assume that the steel parkerized rings in the pix would work fine on a Badger Ord rail. They came with the scope.

hi the rings you have are fine just fit a 20moa rail to the rifle and you are good to go. if you like the scope and the 1moa adjustments then it is there and will hold itsw value well but it depends on what you want to do with the rifle? if you like variables or diferent reticles then just sell it and get another scope you are after. if you have an idea on what you are going to use it for then more help coule be given but a strong scope and will work well on a rem 700 in 308. i would load up a 175gr Sierra or a new 155gr Sierra with the higher BC then see how the drops work out if they are close enough to the scope then you are good to go if not contact Leupold and give them your BC and velocity and they will help you with the correct bullet compensating ring to suit your ammo.

If you decide you require a diferent optic for your uses then you would be able to trade it on the section here fairly easily as people here like to build up clones on the rifles they carried around the world. You cant post int he for sale section until you have contributed to the forums with at least 50 posts though just aheads up if you are thinking of selling it. I would give it a go and see how you like it and how it performes for the shooting you are doing.

Leupold's marketing weenies changed the 'Ultra' designation to 'Mark 4', perhaps in the early 90s.

Use it, enjoy it. It's a very good piece of gear.

I think I remember seeing A older Ultra that had Clockwise Right and Up Knobs. These Knobs would be great for competitors who use a Service Rifle.
