I saw that Accuracy Systems out of Colorado makes AR10s and 15s in several uncommon calibers. Does anyone have any experience in using any of these calibers? I saw that they had offerings in the WSM and WSSM family. Seems like a great idea, but I was curious how it played out in reality.

Re: Uncommon AR calibers

I have one of Accuracy System's LR-308 uppers in 300 wsm. I put up pictures of it recently. I have only shot 30 rounds through it so far, but I have not had any failures shooting the wsm cases with a stock 19 round dpms mag. I will be shooting it more this weekend with my reloads to see how it does. I will post up pictures of the groups. Here is the link to look at my rifle if you want to look at it. Re: Uncommon AR calibers

I have had a chance to mess around with the Accuracy Systems uppers and rifles. They are a first-rate company and build a solid platform. The most recent 300WSM I shot was very accurate out to 200yds (furthest I got to shoot it) and was 100% functional with no failures of any kind in the 38 rounds I fired.

I have been considering a 6.5 Creedmore upper from them, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Lukeva,

That is a good looking rifle. I wonder if you would be able to get additional rounds in with one of the new PMAGS or if you would still get swelling of the magazine.

Does the quite brake that you have on that one reduce felt recoil and noise, or is the noise just not as loud as a regular brake?

I may really have to give this 300 WSM thing another look.

I am not sure about the pmag magazines. I have not seen one in
person, so I don't know how stiff they are. I really bought the gun for hunting anyway, so the 10 round mag that holds 5 wsm cases will work perfect for me.
The quiet brake does reduce felt recoil, and it does not increase the noise, since it directs the gases downrange.
