I know, I know, he's a serviceman on his way home from a long deployment and charging an overweight bag fee is just a cruel dick move - especially when beating feet outta El Paso.
However...
United's policy is servicemen may have FIVE checked bags without charge so long as each is less than 70 pounds. How fucking hard is it for a college-educated officer to comprehend the policy (even one you think is stupid) and adapt and overcome, instead of running to the media to complain?
It may be en vogue to bash on airlines in general and United specifically these days...but the video of this guy talking about a bag fee being "upsetting" *should* earn him a rash of shit.
Honest question - if traveling on a government ticket, are airline fees reimbursed?
