Hi, the names Tim, and I am new to the forum I am looking to start doing some long range shooting or rather hoping to. I have an unmolested Remington 700 that is just asking to individualized by me....Looking for advice, it is having an issue with light primer strikes from what I have gathered it is either the firing pin spring or the trigger...what trigger should I upgrade to...I know lots of people will have lots of opinions but I am the type of guy that would rather spend the money once than try 15 different things. Also going to be looking for a scope with mil dots, and to switch to a box mag. Thanks in advance for your support, this seems like a pretty cool forum. Look forward to being a participate in the coming months and years.

Your call on the trigger, mine came with an adjustable trigger from Remington and some shooters hate them and some don't. If your rifle is new and if you have not done it yet take the bolt apart and get all of that packing grease out of it. I know when I took mine apart the spring was packed full of the stuff which can slow down your strike speed down on your firing pin and collect all kinds of debris.

Did the firing pin clean up didn't look like it was packed with grease but it was way to dirty for the number of rounds through it. now i just need to find a day to go to the range and test it.
