thats cool. does that mean youre capable of doing octagon barrels now? i remember people asking about that in the past. it seems like there would be a decent market for people wanting to put a match grade replacement barrel on an old octagon barreled rifle.

I could add 2 more flutes to this style without to much trouble. But, that would be as close as I could come.

I do all my fluting on rifled blanks or barreled actions. My personal belief is that "the procedure that is used for the fluting" will determine the outcome. I have had no issues with accuracy to date.

Yes, the flats could go all the way to the end of the barrel if requested.

Here is a pic of my personal coyote rifle with very shallow fluting. 6 flutes. The barrel is .700 at the muzzle. Flutes are .050 deep at the muzzle and go straight back getting deeper as they go.

Would love to see a modern build with a straight octagonal barrel in 26" or so. I've always been a sucker for octagonal barrels for no good reason!

I feel like this would pair well with the badger m2013's blocky motif (am I allowed to use that word here? lol) and a flat trigger on someones bar stock bench rest rig and make an awkward but cool looking rifle.
