I'm driving up to Scout Supply Co tomorrow and will be paying Russell a visit with these parts for a 6.5 Creedmoor build. Once completed it will be my tactical match rifle. I would have never known about SSC if not for the hide.
Well I should hopefully see it in a month or so (maybe more) depending on where I will be at in the lineup or their current work load.

The specs once completed:

6.5 Creedmoor

Surgeon 591 action
Huber 2-stage trigger ~2#
Bartlein 27" medium palma (26" from lug to crown) 1:8
McRee chassis stock
Ross Schuler brake (not pictured)

I took a mini road trip from Houston to La Grange this morning to meet up with Russell at the shop. Stand up guy indeed and VERY down to earth. I was expecting to meet an older disgruntled gunsmith but that was hardly the case. He's far from old. I swear we shot the breeze for over an hour. Anyway my build was hashed out and I got to take a quick tour of the place. I can see a very bright future for Scout Supply Company. Word of mouth goes a long way.. Time to start counting down the days!!
I ended up choosing Cerakote Patriot Brown for the barreled action. It's just a damn nice color against the FDE on the stock. I fell in love when I saw teerex's stick from SAC.
Anyway Russell if you happen to come across this and if you're ever in Houston, crawfish and beer on me.

Bushnell XRS anyone? Waiting on mine to get here to compare to my razor.

On a side note. Am I the only one that doesnt care for that style of bolt knob? Yes it looks and works great but shooting with a 90* trigger pull my second knuckle is toast after a few rounds.

I got a chance to quickly look through a few scopes with the Bushnell HDMR (G2DMR) being one of them. I really like it. It's high up on the list now. I'm trying to keep a ~$2000 budget give or take. The Razor HD is also on the list.

the sightron's glass is every bit as good, the tracking is as good (if not better), the ONLY thing you'll be missing is the robustness of the Razor....but if you aren't going to be slamming the gun around, you give up nothing.

I went from a Vortex to a Sightron...and am completely happy, i have the exact same scope (8-32 MOA2)

I think it's a good scope, 2K for a scope is ridiculous!

Gentlemen,

Unless I am wrong (I called and confirmed with Sightron) you are comparing a FFP (Vortex Razor) to a SFP (Sightron III). That is your first and perhaps your greatest error. you are compating apples to pineapples. They are both scopes and that is where the similarities begin and end.

I havent had the chance to compare my Sightron to a Razor, so I really cant say anything, though whether a scope is FFP or SFP, what does that have to do with the quality of the optics themselves? What really makes that Razor worth over a 1K more than my SIII? The 35mm tube? Thicker tube material? Thoughts?

To make a functional and ROBUST FFP scope requires a significantly larger investment in engineering and R & D than a similar SFP scope. Look at Nightforce in that they produce both SFP and FFP scopes in their NSX line holding all other things being equal.

Add to this that the Vortex Razor is built like a TANK, I can personally speak to having this in CRAP weather, Temperature from sub zero to 120 plus. I am not saying the Sightron is not a good scope or it is not good glass. I am saying that for the Tactical Precision game you will be hard pressed to beat the capabilities that the Razor offers without spending SIGNIFICANT more money.

I saw the vids on the scope, I see why they cost what they cost.
