Who is currently using this scope and how did you have it configured? I am asking because I'm considering replacing the USO 1.5-6 that I use on my M14 to extend the range a little. I would still like to keep some close distance capability and was wondering if that scope needs a parallax adjustment or if a fixed parallax would work?

I have one and love it.
I got the parallax adjustment as that is what the guy at USO suggested. I figured when the scope costs that much, it was worth a few more dollars to make sure I didn't end up wishing I had ordered it.

Got a 18-10x37 on a AR 15 SBR Very usable up close Got it with MOA EREK and MOA JNG reticle - excellent. ERGO parallax As a do it all scope - it does everything very well.

I just set up an SPR with a 1.8x10 SN3, with mil dot ret, .1mil uso#3 elevation, .1mil uso #1 windage, 37mm obj, fixed objective. I dont miss the parallax adjustment. I wanted simplicity and rugedness. I was shooting 2moa steel targets out to 600 yds the other day, with no noticeable parallax issues. Seems like a perfect SPR scope, to me.
I just set up an SPR with a 1.8x10 SN3, with mil dot ret, .1mil uso#3 elevation, .1mil uso #1 windage, 37mm obj, fixed objective. I dont miss the parallax adjustment. I wanted simplicity and rugedness. I was shooting 2moa steel targets out to 600 yds the other day, with no noticeable parallax issues. Seems like a perfect SPR scope, to me.

How far out have you shot with it? I just got my SN-3 that I ordered for my 21" AR-10, a 30mm tube 3.2-17x58mm and it was really too big for the gun in my opinion. Offhand shooting would be a challenge so I'm putting that scope on my Savage (original plan was to put a 35mm 3.8-22x58mm SN-3 on it, now it looks like that would have been overkill) and am thinking about going with the 1.8-10x44mm w/ Ergo for my AR-10 instead. My only concern is trying to use 10x at 800+ yards, I'd like to know if you find it lacking at those ranges. It does seem like a perfect SPR-type scope with its size, weight, and power range. I'm not as concerned about close range because I've 2.5x and 3x fairly successfully at 25-50yds so 1.8 should be great.

Get the 44mm objective. It has a lot more available options and since options are part of what makes USO great, don't get their only scope with no options.
Don't get the MPR reticle, this scope is not high enough power for it to be useful. Get the GAP reticle, or regular mil-dot, instead, it's simpler and better suited to the application.
The battery life on the illumination sucks, I guess this is characteristic of all USOs, oh well.

Put a 1.8-10X44 on a LR-308 and it worked great, now sits on a 6mm small format AR and gives easy hits at 800. This is a very versatile scope, so much so I ordered another one.
Specs are:
SN-3 1.8-10X44
ergo
30mm tube
MOA scale type 1
EREK 1/2 moa elev.
US#1 M40 1/4 moa wind
Lit Ret. green
2" sunshade with ARD
This is a good scope for a SPR type rifle, not so much for the average small format .223 AR. SN4 1-4 or 1.5-6 for the normal .223 AR.

He's probably referring to the SN-3S, which only comes in 37mm. You can't get things like EREK, #3 knobs, 1/2 MOA adjustments, or an EER eyepiece for those.
You can, of course, get a 37mm objective on the standard 1.8-10x SN-3, so there shouldn't be any options you can't get just because you went with 37mm.

DH.....I have not shot my set up at close range yet. I have CQB set up for that, so havent been too concerned about close in stuff with the 1.8x10. However, I would think that the 1.8x would be very satisfactory down to 50 yds or less.
FALAR....... I have not shot it yet past 600 yds at a 12in steel disc. Here again, I havent worried about further because the specific purpose of my 18 inch .223 is to "own tactical targets out to 600yds". But to answer your question about 10x for 800 to 1000yds, a few years ago, that was considered very adequate for tactical sized targets. I would guess that a huge number of shooters on the HIDE started out shooting tactical targets out to 1000 yds with 10x max magnification. The fact that most of us are using 15 to 18 power now, doesnt make 10x hopelessly inadequate.
About the 37mm, vs 44mm obj: with the slim
line SN3 37mm obj you do have limited options on turrets, pretty much have to go with USO#1. However you can, like I did, order the standard SN3 1.8x10 with a 37 mm obj instead of the standard 44. With that option, you CAN get EREK, USO #3 turrets etc.
For my puposes, if I can hit smallish tactical targets at 600 yds WITHOUT adj parallax, I am a happy camper. With the USO #3 elev turrent you have 10 mils per turn, which gets me way past 600 yds(about 900). I spec'd a USO #1 windage because it has a screw on cover, which prevents inadvertent moving of the windage turret, and I hold wind anyway. Also the #1 turret is smaller and trimmer that the #3.
All in all, for my purposes, I think the USO 1.8x10 is about perfect for an SPR. The fact that it is so darn cute is an added bonus.
