Most banks mine included will only cash a check or money order if you have a account with them. So you cash a bad check guess where the bank gets the money from. Yep that’s correct your account. So there is always some risk but it’s definitely better than PayPal.When you cash them it's a done deal. Cash in hand then ship, I don't see how you could get screwed.

This. The first time I tried to cash MO’s I was at the main post office of a city with 1.2 million people. They didn’t have funds on hand to cash them and the super-helpful manager basically told me to fuck off. I may have let her know that women don’t typically have mustaches, but regardless they didn’t cash em. Try going later in the day as they may have more $$$ available. That depends on how much cash the PO has at once. and also subject to how much they let you cash into cash in one go.
Yes, there is, I'd never accept a MO for payment. The way it works is, you "cash" the counterfeit MO the bank puts the money in your account then about 6 weeks later when they find out it's counterfeit your bank takes your money out of your account to cover their loss.Is there a way to be scammed accepting these for payment ? Thanks
Do you accept checks and credit cards?Yes, there is, I'd never accept a MO for payment. I use Paypal for everything online.Do you accept checks and credit cards?
As a seller, that sounds more risky than postal mo, check or cc. JMHO.I use Paypal for everything online.
The counterfeit MO's I was given looked exactly like the real deal, I bought a real MO to compare and couldn't tell a difference even using a loupe. I wouldn't trust a USPS employee.I’ve taken USPS MO to the post office to verify validity. I also have called banks to ensure check # is valid. Before cashing.
I didn't know that. The guy at my local PO just looked at it and said it looks ok to me. Then I called the FBI, mailed the MO's to them and they said they were fake.If you walk in with a MO. . The Post Office will scan there PO Money orders for you right there, if worried about a fraud .
.
He is obviously talking out his ass. Even back in the 90’s banks never needed more than 2 weeks to tell if a check or mo was good. Pp however have stolen and locked many accounts just for mention of gun.Do you accept checks and credit cards?
MO's go through a different system than checks do. I don't give a shit what you do, I'm just relaying my experience with almost being scammed out of $3000.He is obviously talking out his ass. You can’t even buy a uspo money order for more than 500..MO's go through a different system than checks do. I don't give a shit what you do, I'm just relaying my experience with almost being scammed out of $3000.
I quit taking credit card payments after one time I sent a gun to an FFL and the buyer backed out and disputed the charge. The money was refunded to the buyer and I didn’t have the gun back. The FFL eventually returned the gun after threat of ATF trace. Not doing that again. No seller protection with disputed charges in my case.As a seller, that sounds more risky than postal mo, check or cc. JMHO.
I'm comfortable with PayPal, I've been on both sides of transactions gone wrong and they eventually got to the right decision. There's really no foolproof way to accept payment even with CC's you've got to worry about chargebacks if you get too many of those you can have your account terminated. As a seller, that sounds more risky than postal mo, check or cc. JMHO.

Right, but you can buy as many as you like.
$1000. And you can buy more than oneYou can’t even buy a uspo money order for more than 500..
This. You can verify the validity of a USPS MO via phone or at the Post Office...maybe even online now (it's been a while). So you can confirm it's real before sending out the purchased item.I’ve taken USPS MO to the post office to verify validity. I also have called banks to ensure check # is valid. Before cashing.

The post office will verify them on the spot. Mine never has enough to cash them though. I take my item to the post office to ship. They verify the money orders and I ship out. If they have the money on hand. I tried cashing a $250 MO once at the local PO and they couldn'tPost office will cash postal money order..
Right, but you can buy as many as you like.
They can verify but most can not cash them. Maybe the large ones in the city can.Wrong and Wrong. Usps mo max value is $1000.00 you can purchase as many as you want. If you get well into 4 figures, you may have to fill out a form. ( to help avoid money laundering)
Any usps can verify on the spot and cash or issue new mo on the spot.
I sell quite a bit. I will not take PP unless its friends and family. Period. I will not accept goods and services.Another option is just use PayPal.
Money is in your account instantly..
there is some security, though mostly protecting buyer.
I’ve made countless transactions and never had a problem. Just insure whatever you’re shipping in case it’s damaged or lost (and require signature, so you know they got it).
I understand some people are worried about online transactions but it’s very safe. If it wasn’t ebay wouldn’t be what it is today.
Personally I’d be worried about a buyer wanting to pay any other way.
I won’t buy from anyone that only takes PayPal. FYI eBay was around before PayPal and got smaller when they went to PayPal onlyAnother option is just use PayPal.

I have bought 2-3 money orders at one time with no issue. Never had to do anything differently. You would think it would be the same everywhere.^^^^^^^
This right here! I bought $2500 worth of money orders at one time and there was an online form on their computer that the clerk filled out with all my personal information required before they would issue the money orders. Last time I did that! Would buy a $1K one in the morning and another $1K in the afternoon .
Must have noticed the dried jizz in your beard. Dead giveaway.^^^^^^^

Same.I've bought plenty for $1K .
Must've happened to you before shitbird, guessin' you're speaking from experience eh?Must have noticed the dried jizz in your beard. Dead giveaway.
if you are worried about counterfeits, and the post office branch doesn't have the funds to cash it on the spot, tell the clerk that you want to use the usps money order you received in the mail to buy a new money order for the same amount. It will cost you about a buck. then just take it to the bank. you know it's 100% good because it was just issued to you from the source. They can verify but most can not cash them. Maybe the large ones in the city can.
