Rifle Scopes Val has made the IOR Recon even better

That's what many folks here don't understand.
There is a cat in jolly ole England by the name of Richard Utting.
He is quite the fan of both Sightron and IOR.
If you would take the time to listen to his explanation, the IOR is cheaper than the Vortex razor Gen II and factory support is available, if required, on his side of the pond, unlike the Vortex. He has not reported issues with the recon.
I get that IOR has a bad reputation, but folks here love to jump on any thread without considering context.
Here is a rundown of stuff he was looking at, he seemed quite pleased with the Delta Stryker HD, which is likely available to you as well.

Junk is junk in any context.

Plenty of us have optics that aren’t serviced in the country we live in.

Thx

Yes, I've viewed most of richards vids. Although his vids are quite long winded, he does do his best to convey the truth in what he sees. I value his recommendations.
From what I've seen, the Recon II most likely won't suffer the same probs as the IOR's have gained a problematic reputation for however, in my neck of the woods, we have difficult access in comparison to Americans &, as a result, a prudential approach predominates. If I weigh the benefits, in this case, I find the Recon wanting, especially in light of the cost in comparison to the S & B 3-20 US. Prudence dictates the Recons removal from my list.

Regards........Barelstroker.

Absolutely. Wasn't trying to sell you on the Recon. If you can pick up an S&B or Hennie, it's pretty tough to argue against it.

Thx guys.
To "The King" haven't looked much at the vortex range. I'v got my heart set on a true tier 1 scope although, I won't dismiss your advice.
To
Dthomas3523 Yes, I have & am considering the TT but, here in Aus, The "P" variant retails for around $5750 whereas the hennies are about $3700. I'm prepared to spend the moolar if the gains are reasonable but, TT are very expensive here which, narrows the market a lot should I need to sell. S & B have an undisputed reputation &, I can pay $3700 with MSR ret. As much as I really like the TT, It's a hard sell with what appears be very modest gain. At this level, I'm not so concerned about the IQ as the eyebox & DOF.
I recently purchased an Athlon Talos BTR mainly to evaluate a FFP scope with an illuminated ret. I've been pleasantly surprised with the IQ, at least in comparison to my Luppy 4-12x44 which, has been as faithfull a scope as a man could hope for over 34 yrs.
The Athlon is a tad better in low light &, the illuminated ret is a dream but, the parallax is absolute shit compared to my beloved Luppy & the eyebox is tighter if anything in comparison. The Athlon is useable but, my Luppy gives basically nothing up in terms of real life useability, except for the the lit ret which, is very good in the Athlon & basically, just makes life easier.
Over the last 30+ yrs, I've shot many, many hundreds, if not thousands of the giant hopping rats &, my beloved luppy has held up like a champion.

Regards...........Barelstroker.

Off topic but a ffp scope might not be the best option for spotlighting, a S&B 8x56 Klassik with an A4 is a pretty simple option that should fill that role neatly though it is pretty niche. If you are set on a Hensoldt I'd try to find an older 3-12 with the solid mildot instead of the new style, you could get one in SFP as well which I would consider for that role. Actually the Zeiss Victory 3-12 should be very close opticallly to the hensoldt and are around 2200-2500 AUD, nothing wrong with scopes designed for hunting if that's what your doing with it.

Thx

Why risk it ! good choice too take it off your list... In Aus , best value for money at the moment in Tier 1 optics is the Schmidt and Bender 5-20 Ultra shorts, magnum sports have them for $3690

If i didnt already have the 5-25 i'd grab one of these, MSR is an awesome reticle for sure.

That said I like the design of the 5-20 ultra short a bit more, they are only $3950.

I have one of those on my other rifle, they’re good to go. I’ll end up getting another when my next rifle is built

Hi, I m David, from Spain. I read this history, I dont know nothing about IOR since 1 month ago. I wish go to Minox ZP5 5-25 or Khales 525. But a dealer from Spain offered me a IOR TX RAIDER 3-25 for 1800€. It costs usually 2700€ ,here. I never would pay plus than this amount for a IOR . If I spend 2500 or 2800€, it must be for a Khales or Minox, that s for sure. But at this range of price I think over the Raider. (TREX had made a odd review about hits model...I prefer Utting point of info).
About Schott glasses, you can be sure it s the better product on optical market. I know this for my work. BUT....IOR buy the glass and cut and add the antirreflexion treatment in Rumania...And this change all. This info is in his own web. Not the same if this work is made by Zeiss... I fall in risk and yes ,I ve bought the Raider. In terms of qaulity optics its pretty good. Very good at 3x till 14X . When you go above 18X or more it suffers a significan Cromatic Aberration. So IOR is good ,but not so good. Schott glasses aren t the only one element that determinates the final quality optics. Optical design, the quality of AR treatment, not all of them are equal good, the type of Schott optic, Low dispersion, hd... I like much compare the G2 model . I own a Nightforce BR 12-42. It s not the best model of NF. At first time I realize the turrets are by far better than the Raider. It doesn t mean Raider had a bad turrets.
I ll do a review making measures on CONTRAST and others parameters using test.

Sorry for my english.
Please , don t be so hard with some user, even when they can be wrong.

3-25x50 is a decent scope for the price its sold in Europe (typicaly sub 2400Eur) and absolutely uncompetitive at prices sold in US .Its new gen where mechanical issues like we seen in previous gens were fixed , i know couple folks that have it , no issues so far and they are not safe queens

But Sniper's Hide is literaly the last place for a honest opinion on IOR , so expect lots of IOR bashing in next posts.

I like the one I have granted every company makes lemons from time to time you just hope they stand behind there product and fix or replace any problems as they pop up when they pop up . I am 2 1/2 years in with an ior crusader 5.8x40x56 40mm and have had 0 problems with it tracking or any other , but while I hope it out last me I might I may not . The price I paid for mine to me made the deal possible to me . It was a bit strange paying for something in Romania having only seen reviews on them . I was almost positive I would neither see the scope or my money again but I was pleasantly surprised to see it's arrival and blown away with the performance . Like em or hate em which ever side you want to be on I love mine and would not trade it for anything .

The problem stateside is warranty work. Val will replace a scope, but usually with a repair return.
I have an IOR, I like it very much, I've had it for around 9 years. It doesn't get a whole lot of use, but it tracks, the glass is superb, I love the reticle.
The finish on the scope body sucks, the rings that came with it are quite nice.
But, here is the states, you are not getting your money's worth.

My first ‘high end’ scope was an 8-32 model.
I had zero problems with it.
Having said that, there are better options out there that pretty much make the decision very easy.

This is the newer, more loving, and accepting of your life choices Hide....

Love the excuses,

Plenty of evidence on why we hate on them, from trademark infringements directly related to this site, and poor mechanical quality, as well the lie that their Schott Glass is the same as Zeiss which was noted above.

The generations of issues in a single design, so please spare us your bullshit observations, when every story that is positive about an IOR includes a Butt Negative dismissal of the facts.

Facts are hard things to argue and there is a reason these scopes are not more popular, for as long as they have been around and their supposed quality and feature set, ask yourself why do owners have to be coerced into a purchase, then after buyers remorse decide Misery Loves company so you should buy one too.

There is no debate, a fool and his money comes to mind.

facts are a hard thing to argue with. I have a 3.5-18 on a custom 308, a 12-54 on a custom 6.5, and the new Recon sitting on a custom 6.5. Not one of them has ever gave me one minutes worth of trouble.

Shot in another local match a few weeks back. Didn't do to well. But the one stage where we could get in the prone, I was the only person to hit 10 out of 10 and clear the stage. I just got to get better at the trick shooting.

Sounds more like anecdotal opinion than facts. We all love the stuff we have dumped our money into. My stuff is the best, just ask me.

You can’t tell you Phillip anything guys, he’s IOR’s last remaining customer and he’s holding on strong.

I concluded a long time ago that he’s either lying about track record, or got the only good optics those turd burglars ever produced. I don’t think IOR is capable of building a single reliable optic so my money’s on the first one.

I couldn't comment on the new IOR's but a decade ago mine broke and both of my bud's scopes broke, all were different models and mine was the latest model Gen3 6-24x56. That just tells me the Co didn't care to make a reliable product and it seemed that we were paying $1500-ish for $300-ish quality scopes.

Heck I've had many chinese made Athlon scopes without any failures. Though of course I acknowledge these do go down sometimes.

You're more than welcome to come shoot any of them any time you want. I love showing people like you how good they are.

So as a broke ass redneck, I'd be happy to take any IOR off your hands free of charge. I'll even pay for the shipping. I'm not saying I don't believe you and the stories of their quality either. I'm just saying they're still better than the scopes my meager budget allows.

Ohh boy...……………..here we go

Uh, there's a delete button right next to the edit button along the bottom edge of every post you make.

Uh, I'm on a phone and can't seem to locate a delete button. The edit button doesn't bring one up either. Removing the text and saving brings up an error. I'll just edit the thing.

I'm new around here and wasn't trying to stir up anything. Just disregard the post because I don't know how to delete the damn thing.

Have you given any consideration to Quigley Ford scopes? If not, you should. You can't miss with those reticles they offer. Just point the barrel in the general vicinity of the target and you are good ;)

Hi,

Ok so let me get this straight....guy in the video is talking about how much "better" this version is and THEN at the end of the video he says he has not even used it yet........
How can he say how good or bad anything is unless he falls into the category of knowledge by association instead of knowledge by application....

Sincerely,
Theis
Well that really doesn't seem to stop anybody else from having negative comments about stuff they've never used. It's always well I knew a guy or I've heard ...It's never a I stood behind the scope and saw that it was a piece of crap. I really wish people would just hold their comments until they had some experience behind a scope regardless of who makes it.
Everybody and their mother seems to fall all over themselves when they talk about Nightforce seems like that company can't do any wrong and everybody's an expert on how good they are even though they've never even sat behind one. I don't know much about the Scopes but I'd like to hear some honest opinions not just a bunch of he said she said stuff

Nightforce makes good stuff. IOR doesn’t. Used both.

Generally speaking, if it has a good name on this site, there’s a reason for it. There’s also a good reason if it has a shit name here.

I would like to see a bad review that's all. It's very hard not to be opinionated. I'm in the military so I've actually sat behind a Nightforce looking at things in my Crosshair that aren't deer. So I know they are decent there's no question about that. I'm trying to get a scope to shoot 22LR ELR so I need a ton of internal adjustment I know I can get add-ons that'll help me get to where I want to go but I'd like to keep it in the scope the Recon G2 is the only scope that I've seen with over a hundred and fifty Moa of internal adjustment

Frank just had an ior in his class that was like 94% tracking. That’s incredibly bad. Even the cheapest optics out there don’t score that low.

ZCO 527 and NF 7-35 will have about the most adjustment at 35 mils.

For more than that, you’ll need a March Genesis

Hi,

@Michael W
LOLOL if you know anyone that says they are precision rifle shooters that has never gotten behind a NF then you need to expand your database of people.

Also if you have not found anyone saying something negative about NF then again...you are not looking hard enough.

So you sit behind NFs in the military but you speak in MOA,...USN with those mil/moa NSX NFs?

Amount of travel is USELESS when said travel is not calibrated to the amount of travel you think you are putting on or taking off the scope for each shot.

Sincerely,
Theis

So what are you looking at for the G2, $3,600? You could get a ZCO in that price range and have the newest shiniest thing to come down the pipe with lots of internal adjustment. Or for that money you could do a Charlie Tarac and a Gen2 Razor. We're not bagging on IOR just because its fun, its for good reason. We are trying to help you save your time and money and invest in companies that also invest back into the our shooting community. What has IOR contributed? Of course you are free to spend your hard earned $$$ as you wish. If you decide you can't live without the IOR please come back and provide your own much requested review. Just make sure you have thick skin as you know what you are walking into. It seems the G2 is a decent scope (its not an IOR its actually Japanese) but Val doesn't have a great track record of supporting the product.
