Wow Imagine Germany and Japan teaming up ..what could go wrong?

Anyway, all jokes aside, originally IOR went to 40mm tubes because of their machining limitations. They had a hard time machining small pieces precisely enough out of the materials they had available to them.

On top of that, they had fairly dismal luck making side focus scopes without significant hysteresis and other issues, so they came up with that front parallax adjustment ring right behind the objective bell, but making it work properly also required a little extra space. It is essentially a smaller version of the zoom mechanism used for the magnification, except the moving piece is the parallax lens group. Side focus turrets have a slightly different parallax cell (I've got a video on that coming) that can, potentially fit in a slightly smaller tube.

The fact that in America people still associate bigger with better turned out to be a bonus.

Okay I got two questions for you. As far as tube diameter when do you start reaching diminished returns? It seems like everybody's going 34 mm these days which was practically unheard of only a few years ago.
With a 34 mm tube what is the theoretical Max adjustment in elevation one could achieve

There is no simple answer to that since it would be different for differently designed systems.

34mm tubes were 'practically unheard of' until recently because it's only in the last ten years or so people began outshooting the adjustment range of a 30mm scope.

Ten years ago you might see two targets in a match at or beyond 1000 yards, now there is almost always an 'ELR' stage with shots between 1400-1800yds.

ELR especially has exploded in popularity the last few years with formalized competition and targets out and beyond 2 miles.

Nobody was doing that until recently. Frankly, with the advent of the Charlie Taraq units you don't even need all the elevation anymore. Now you just slap a calibrated prism device in front of your scope and buy instant elevation.

IOR is for the uninitiated and I suspect it always will be.

The S&B 5-25x56 PMII scope which has been around for like at least 15 years (I think) is a 34mm tube and back in the day it was a very popular scope.

17 years, 2003. It took off Immediately. So almost 20 ago. No the 34mm did not just now get popular. Then vortex released the gen I razor with a 34mm tube, then the gen ii razor with 34mm. Then in 2015 came the ATACR with 34mm.

I'm in the military and I know that has no bearing here but he asked me what I did for a living and I told him we spent maybe 5 or 10 minutes talking about my military experience before we even started talking about a scope. I know that really doesn't mean a lot and it doesn't mean anything about his quality of his product but it was important to me.
He's ultimately a salesman. So, he stroked your ego and it worked. It's called sales. You bought into it.

You're nearing the 100 post mark. Congrats.

Question: will you sell this scope as hard in the px as you did here in the near future?
That's great I got a semi truck trailer full ofValdada scopes that aren't going to sell themselves I need to get on that scope selling forum

Why the F do you ask for advice when you clearly won't take it? I think the guys are right.. building up that 100 post.
nope I don't have anything to sell .besides that I don't even know what you get if you get over 100 post .Im thinking a poor attitude judging by some of you mean old bastards You nimrods forget these forums are suppose be entertaining and enlightening ...

To the contrary, this thread is a textbook example of what enlightening and entertaining looks like.

Are you saying I'm doing the dirty with my scope? I aren't too smart you know

So have you bought this scope then?

How about posting some pictures of it, pictures of it on your rifle, and pictures of the groups you shot, along with some through the scope pictures an different magnifications showing FOV & reticle, along with a brief review of your impressions after testing and shooting it?

If it wasn't so funny I would ban this guy for his endlessly pathetic replies, but hey, you all appear to be having fun.

His trolling skills are quite good in that he can keep this going for 4 pages and not have it turn into a complete mess, there is actual information here, like Val trying to Bribe Ilya, which we knew he bought off Rex after the beating they take here, he wanted a counter to Sniper's Hide so he went Sniper 101,

One has to wonder about the person, is it genius or idiocy to be told the same thing over and over and still returns to the But IOR response... either he needs X amount of posts to get a free one or he is fishing for a discount in return for keeping the words alive on here, this can't be organic, it has to be a set up.

Where is the camera, I think we are being recorded, it has be a new Candid Camera thing nobody is this dense without a reason.

Fellas.... Do you guys really think I'm going to get one of these things? I decided about a week ago that I wasn't going to cuz I can buy a Nightforce for just about as much...
I wanted to tell you guys this but there was so many you guys out there that that were taking it so personal... I just couldn't stop. I was just having too much fun. And it looks like a bunch of you guys had a little bit of fun too.
Well if I made you smile and laugh a little bit that's alright with me

Another type of man might just learn and take advantage of the knowledge base here. And yet another type of man might just troll.
