Lapua brass 175 smk looking for starting point for powder.
pinecone, I'm shooting 175smks a bit faster than that with my sps and they were all over the place at 1000, and trans sonic. Pit guy said they sounded "funny" and random guy at range said 2650 was the magic # for 175 smk @1000. 178s and 190s were fine at 1000, and the 175s were great at 900. Wondering what I'm doing wrong? I'm impressed that you were getting good hits at 1200, esp since they had to be subsonic right? You weren't at altitudeOCW - OCW Overview - Dan Newberry's OCW Load Development System
But I ended up with:
Lapua brass
175 SMK
Federal 210M primers
43.5 grains of Varget
2600 fps out of my Rem 700 24" barrel.
Worked to 1200 yards (15.5 mils up) at Dan Newberry's Bang Steel course.
44.8 grains should be the next higher accuracy node.
