Vihtavuori and 6.5 Creedmoor

I have a 6.5CM that I load for, current load is H-4350 and 130gr Berger AR-Hybrid OTM. With the price of 4350 getting over $60.00 a pound I have started looking at other powders that are similar. What is the general consensus on VV N-150 and N-160 in the 6.5CM with 130gr bullets? I can get VV for almost $15-20 a pound cheaper than H-4350.

I'd get some N160 to try. Take a look at the VV data on their site and it's a good fill to velocity ratio. I just started using it for my 6 Creed and 110 ATips and it works very well.

Both are good options for that cartridge, especially in a semi-auto because the N100 series don’t generate as much heat. N550 & N555 will give you more velocity in exchange for more heat.

N555 is actually fairly cool burning and supposedly temp stable. Same ballpark as h4350 for heat of explosion IIRC.

I have a large stash of h4350 and there are still 8#ers available for sub $400 locally but I’ve been loading n555 primarily in my 6 creedmoor. Might be a little slow in burn rate to shoot 130s in a 6.5? N550 is probably a better burn rate for that application but hotter burning and less temp stable IIRC.

N555 is my go to powder for 6mm Creedmoor heavies - I've been replacing my 6.5x47L N550 loads with it for the reasons you mentioned.

The only reason I haven't looked too hard at the N-555 or 550 is that the price is not much cheaper than 4350 right now. Is there an advantage to using 160 over 150 with lighter bullets in the 6.5 creedmoor?

In 6mm and 6.5mm, N160 tends to be better optimized for velocity across the range of popular bullets, while N150 seems a better fit for .308WIN, from my experience.

Nice, I will get a pound of N-160 and try to see how it fairs in my Solus PRS gun.

VV powders work great in the 6.5 Creed, if the N160 does not shine don't be afraid to try another .

Powders N540 ,N555 Shine in 6.5CM accuracy is outstanding . Bruno shooter supply has VV N 160 for $260.00 sale now ,I personally don't care for it in 6.5 but it works well in other cartridges . Powder trials with 123 Gr. at 165 Yd and MY 129 Gr. hunting load stacked #20 under 0.5" at 278 Yd. N540 Works for ME .
