They will charge what the market will bear. Equilibrium will be found once the 7.5 trillion printed in the last 3 years dries up.
Prices on a lot of things no longer correlate with raw materials costs.

That’s a shitty move to reprice existing orders that are shipped next year.
Normally, I’d agree with you, but the price of cars/trucks is still not anywhere near normal, imo.

Prices are high on many things in line with scamdemic shortage material costs even though raw material costs have dropped significantly across many sectors.
Sadly, I’m not sure they ever will return back to normal now that companies have figured out a way to scam people out of even more money.
Hell I just watched a video about some shampoo companies putting crap in shampoo that is known to cause hair loss, while simultaneously selling you shit to help you regrow the very hair they are making you lose. That’s just wrong on so many levels. Our moral compass is fucked.

The big stock influencers in the media were saying two weeks ago that we were in for a lot of pain nationwide coming up, then last week we had the best week in 2023. Regardless, I’m afraid you are right. Just look at this, I dont know for sure that he is right but from where I’m sitting he is.
Considering Scheel’s sales primers at $60 per 1,000 while everyone else is double that, I’m not certain the manufacturers are the biggest reason for the high prices. If Scheel’s can do it, so could everyone else.
The prices on these items were high because of demand and then we got hit with 20% across the board inflation (tax/wealth grab). Prices on primers, powder, ammo hasn’t really budged since the covid scam even though demand has lowered. Higher margins pocketed although not as much now as before the inflation (disguised tax on the working class). Now manufacturers are having an up to 10% price increase. I’m curious to see if retailers eat this up charge considering they seem to be working in higher margins than ever to begin with. Time will tell.

I had to go face to face with about 6 major distributors in this industry once and tell them that their purchase orders were going to be unilaterally changed to reflect rising costs. Not much fun for anyone but that is business. Contract law is a thing. Reputation is a thing.

Exactly! And I’m not even at $100k! Now me and the wife do considerably more that $100k but neither of us have got a real raise in years and years and that buying power that we used to have is getting lower and lower every year. Frankly, I don’t know how anyone with a family anywhere in this country, even the lower cost of living states, are making it on less than $170k as household income. Even that minus taxes and all that mess really ain’t but likely close to $100k bring home. Max out two ROTHs each year, take a small vacation and add in all your other bills and I could easily see that being $70k-$80k. So while someone one that household income is getting by for now, it’s barely getting by to keep the same standard of living. Sure you can make cuts and save here and there but the truth is, at some point there is nowhere else to cut. The middle class is being erased.

I don't think people who aren't self employed realize the actual cost of Healthcare now. Obamacare just totally screwed us. We pay out a minimum of 30k a year with premiums and all the crap insurance doesn't pay for and this year it's been more than that. It's a complete joke that self employed people pay for all of these people who don't pay Jack crap

Nothing expensive. Just the milk for a month is $40. Add other drinks, meat, and snack crap and cleaning stuff and diapers ect and there's no way a grand will cover it.
$1,000 is a lot for groceries for 4 people. I mean a whole bunch of a lot. I just don’t know how people spend that much a month on groceries to feed 4 people even at today’s food costs.
A $7.48 pack of chicken thighs, $2.99 noodles, $5 block of cheese, $0.10 of flour, $1.00 of butter, and $3.00 for two big cans of green beans should provide at least 2 meals for a family of four. $19.57 total and those are Publix prices where I am.
a lot of people don't know how to make the simplest meals...instead they buy premade stuff and pay through the nose.
when i cook for people, they are astounded at what i cook with and the results. folks just don't look up recipes anymore and a LOT of people eat out a lot.

You know what makes it sting even worse? You can’t even get a appt with a doc anymore, much less the guy you’ve seen for years because they are forced to see more patients. And top it off, wait until you are waiting around with people and find out how much their healthcare costs are. We pay good money for good insurance (I think all insurance is a scam but that’s another convo) and then my copays can still be $35-$60. One of my last doc appointments I had to pay my $60 deal and the lady in front of me only had to $10. Once she was called back I inquired what insurance she had. Lady at the front desk told me it was gov ran insurance of some sort and hinted at obamacare. It’s like a triple slap in the face. Not only are we paying more for less coverage, the people we are paying for are paying less than us and apparently can get appointments with real docs now while we can’t. It’s pretty jacked up.
That does seem like a lot, but I’m also remind of how little I get when I come out of publix and just spent $300. Bourbon salmon filet and some chicken breast here is easily $40 at full price. Granted that’s several meals but still. And I don’t even know anymore. My wife quit letting me go grocery shopping cause I used to bitch about the prices all the time.
I think this is certainly some of it. Growing up my parents weren’t around much cause they were working all the time. So I pretty much had to fix whatever I could whip up and that was usually the fastest thing I could get done so I could get back out and play. As a result I never really learned how to eat well.
I admit I got friends weigh teenage boys and I don’t know how they do it.
Oh I know. It absolutely burns me up! I hear people say "I only pay $35 a month for my insurance " and then they have these 10 co-pays and no cost medicine. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE TO PAY 1800 A MONTH FOR HEALTH INSURANCE. THEN PAY MORE ON TOP OF THAT FOR COPAY, THEN PAY OUT OF POCKEY FOR WHAT INSURANCE DOESNT PAY AT ALL FOR. ITS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Half the damn country is on "disability " to boot.
Every time I go to the health department to get septic permits, I see the mass of illegals in there getting set up for their damn food cards. Then see them at the store with all the good shit in their carts, and then peel off a wad of $100's for thr video games they are also buying. Makes my damn blood boil!!!
Just the diapers are like 3 or 4 dollars a day. Also, there's just not a way to cook a meal from scratch every day. We can do it about 3 ish days a week under normal conditions and we do. Then there's a day or two where we might get a rotisserie chicken and fix sides ourselves to go with it. But when you get in at 5 and have to get kids bathed, do homework, clean up, feed dogs, and read to boys, pray with them, and put them to bed by 8:00 ( if we are lucky) there's just no way to cook from scratch and clean it up and have enough time.
Also, kids don't eat just anything. I make mine eat a lot and if they don't eat they just don't eat but with a 3 year old, you can't just say "ok. Well I guess you won't eat", you have to get some stuff they will like. Cereal is like $8 a box now, which with me eating some of it is good for about 4 bowls total.
The cleaning supplies are also in there and it takes a lot of that with 2 boys who find any mud present anywhere and roll in it. Of course they don't sit and play video games all day either so there's that.
We spend about $ 1300 a month on grocery and that's definitely not buying steaks and such which is like $50 for our family to eat steak that I cook. We also take out food once or twice a week, especially during baseball season which I coach 2 teams and both mine play. Without kids it's just a whole other ball game on food as well as time which is a major factor. Edit: I should add that drinks and medicine like Tylenol and crap also are a pretty decent chunk when you look at it. I drink a few bottles or a bottle of water a day but I also like my soft drinks which have gotten expensive. I drink the off brand and try to limit it but the wife drinks coke zero and it's over 50 cents a piece now. A few cases a month of those and my knock off Mt dew by themselves is like $40 or $50 a month. Tooth paste, Tylenol, paper towels, paper plates , toilet paper, ect.... all that crap beyond actual food is a big factor in the cost.

i raised two boys from age 2 and 4 by myself. no family in the area, working a full time job, all by my self.
and i raised my nephew who had big time problems starting at age 8. unfucked him in short order.
i don't cater to individual children's likes/dislikes. i don't make them choke down something they hate, but there was no option B, either. you ate what everyone else ate. and don't give me that "3 year old" bullshit. that is a fucking excuse for either not standing up to your woman OR letting a 3 year old run you. one or the other.
i made baby food from what food i made; baby food companies never made much of anything off of me. i had other parents shocked at what my kids would eat. now, if i KNEW a kid didnt like a certain thing, i will admit i would quit making that and find another dish to fill the void. but other than that, it is what's for dinner-so eat up or shut up.

I track it and there are some things we could cut if I needed to. My wife buys a lot of crap for the kids that I just won't buy but she also doesn't spend hardly anything on herself for clothes and hair and any of that stuff so, all in all I'm ok with that. People who aren't buying all this stuff now and have a different lifestyle where they go work a 9-5 and all for someone else just don't know is all. I know you and I know you are a good guy so I'm not taking offense or anything and I sincerely hope you aren't either. We can just talk without hurt feels...
Chicken thighs aren't really a good example since that's probably the cheapest thing you can buy but even still, it's the total of all the crap that gets you up there so much nit just actual food. The little snacks for kids, medicines, paper products, deodorant. Toothpaste, scrubbing bubbles, soap, all of that stuff is more than double when you have little kids just in how much you use because kids waste a lot and use a lot of everything. Also, at some point you can't be a hard ass about every single thing. For example, packing lunch for school. I don't want my kid getting made fun of for what he has in his lunch and so I allow some stuff that I wouldn't buy, but I don't bitch about her buying it you know? Like I said, we could trim some, but I really don't think you are counting everything that has to be bought per month when looking at this either or we'd be a lot closer together.

I figure $5 per person for dinner is a low to reasonable amount to expect to pay for groceries to make dinner. $5 per person X 4 people X 30 days is $600 per month, just for dinner. Figure in, that same amount for a combined breakfast and lunch, and you are at $1200 for a family of 4. That’s $10 per person, per day. You can’t eat fast food for $10 per person per meal around here. My math says $1000 per month for groceries for a family of 4 is low…
No doubt. You are either going up or going down in this country. There is no staying in the middle class at this point. That's why over half the country is on govt assistance in some way. If that were not the case, we'd see it now that none of this is working as a whole. It's just printing money to make it look like it's working and once the sugar money from the great covid printing runs out ,(most states are sitting on quite a bit of covid money still) , it's going to be really rough. Of course we do have the energy production ability to help out a whole lot and IF we'd make some cuts in spending, it could be done so we don't implode and work out of this, even at this horrid juncture we find ourselves. Of course the corrupt in power will keep spending like no tomorrow so...
