It's the $99 one.Please be gentile with me fellas.I might be in the buy cheap buy twice syndrome but it's for my 10/22.Well here it is.I bought the scope and was shooting at 200 no problem but when I switched from hv down to sub I had to use end ranges of the turrets.They did'nt work,something was wrong so I brought it home and put it in bench and looked through scope and cranked elevation,half way through it stopped moving.So I sent it back to vortex and cs was spot on.Sent me a new one and guess what? same promblem.If someone owns one pls do the same and let me know if you have this problem.Thanks

That scope has limited elevation. Use a 20 MOA base. You are hitting "phantom clicks". The turrets still move, but the erector has run out of elevation. I ran into that when I did a tracking test on mine.
I have the same optic on my 40XB .22LR. It's a great scope for the price range. It is much better than the $100 Tasco I have on my mixmaster HBAR AR.

Did'nt realize there was such a thing.I have a 20 moa base from midway,think it's a egw?Anyway I'm at 100 yrd zero on the new scope with Phantom clicks almost immediately.Any idea?100 yrds won't cut it for me.I need atleast 250yrds.

I just check it I think.I turned the turret all the way down and counted up till the crosshair stopped moving .I got 46 moa when it stopped.100yrd zero at 42 moa from bottom which leaves me with 4 moa left till it phantoms.

Are you sure you are not thinking of the 30mm version? The $99 one that SWFA sells is a 1" tube.

That is a TON of elevation needed for a 22LR due to the drop.
You will probably need to change to a scope that allows more elevation internally like a 30MM tube. You're trying to push the limits of a scope too far...

Question for you,If I'm zeroed at 100 yrds which I am, what do you think I should have left?I only have 16 clicks left of travel then the phantom comes.Does that sound right?Like I stated before I cranked it all the way down and then started up and only 46 moa travel total.Does that sound right?Calculations say 21.25 moa to reach 200yrds and about 34 moa for 250 yrds .If it has 70 moa total with a 20 moa base I should get atleast 250yrds .Give it to me straight guys am I a slow adult?I never did ride the short bus.

Well, I called Vortex abt it before ordering mine, asked specifically abt the 1" tube, and was told it had 70 moa (I have 25 moa bases on my trainers and wanted to make sure I could zero it). But - I could have been given bad information. I'll check mine when I can.

If it has 70 moa you should have plenty to go to 200 yards and beyond - but it appears that there is some ambiguity there. Did you double check what your total travel is from end to end? Is it really 46 moa? If it is 46 moa, you won't get to 200 yards.

The one-inch swfa crossfire has around 50 moa of total travel. This gives you 25moa in each direction IF your receiver,base and rings are perfectly in spec and if you are zeroing at 100yds with a 22lr, 16moa left would not surprise me at all. This is assuming you have a 0 cant base.

Either way, if when you run it and have the appropriate amount of travel (per Scott) then you may just have to shim the back of your base up to get the elevation you want.

Are you sure your 20moa base is on right? If its on backwards that would explain it. The thick part is supposed to go in BACK. (That is the end closest to the shooter)

Now, @ 100 yards a 40gr 22LR bullet leaving muzzle @ 1250 fps is abt 3 moa down, so, say, 5 moa from the scope horizontal. So, ballparking it, @ 200 yards you need about 24 moa with no canting in the base.
However, the exact amount will vary from scope to scope, as they don't all have exactly the same amount of adjustment range: they should all be above 50 moa, but some of them will be at 52, 53, etc... Also - the adjustment will not be perfectly centered on your rifle setup, so you could be a few moa up or down from the get go.
But - what does not make sense to me is that you only have abt 6 moa left from your 100 yard zero. based on the numbers above, you should have used up abt 5 moa from roughly center adjustment, leaving you about 20 moa +/-.

I just pulled the 40XB out of the safe.
It has a EGW 20MOA base and Leupold Rifleman Rings.
The scope is zeroed for 50 yards. I just got on the ground and cranked the turrets. I have 33 MOA up (impact of the round) and 31 MOA down. Keep in mind I believe this receiver has a lower rear bridge than the standard 700 so it eats up some angle to zero with standard mounts. One of these days I am going to shim it up and bed it to the receiver to get some more elevation.
So when speaking of the scope itself, I have 64 MOA of total adjustment. If the scope is advertised at 50 MOA this would not surprise me at all.
As an aside, I get a hard stop at the bottom and phantom clicks at the top. This is normal for this level of scope in my opinion.

I'm almost positive you can't put the 20 moa base on backwards.If I remember correctly the two back mounting holes for the 10/22 are different from the front but I will check it.I only have 16 clicks left before it phantoms .The rings I have leave the bell about 1/8" off the barrel .

Just mounted mine and same issue as far as phantom clicks in the up direction. I got 42 clicks from where the reticle movement stops and where the knob stops turning. Haven't shot it yet.
