Mounted a Vortex Golden Eagle, 15-60x54mm on an RPR 300 Winmag last week and sighted it at 25m, indoor range.
Took it to 100m this past weekend.
Dang it was cold but we had a great time.
Totally blown away by the clarity at even 60X.
First shot was high 4" and right 1".
Adjusted a little too low, then started stacking rounds.
Looking forward to stretching this combo to 300+ meters this spring/summer.
Here's a pic of the target (before we shot 12ga slugs into it from 100m LOL).
Will put up a pic of the rig later tonight.

interesting choice for a 300WM RPR
Why so, might I ask?
Had a 5-25x56mm Vortex Venom on the RPR.
Took that one out to 300m and was curious to see how the higher mag would help.
The 5-25x56mm is going on a CZ-457 (22LR, 17HMR and 22WMR barrels), scheduled to arrive this week.

I enjoy high power optics and long range shooting.
Will be shooting 300m in March (sooner if weather cooperates), then 500+ m (hopefully to 1000m) in summer.
"Aim small, miss small" & "you can't hit what you can't see" are my credos.
Unfortunately, my vision is only getting worse as I grow older.

most people here are shooting practical/PRS/tactical with FFP and spend their time mostly in the 15-20x range for real shooting (unless F Class/BR where the Golden Eagle is meant to be used)

the 5-25 would hold up just fine to 1000m shooting
Ya...
That is all greek to me at this time.
I don't know F-class from Shop Class LOL.
Cheers.

F class is basically bullseye target shooting. All he’s saying is that the general population here gravitate towards more practical style shooting (steel targets and so forth), where this sort of scope would be more hindrance than help.

Thanks gents, that is why I am here...to learn.
Whether or not I'll get to competition shooting remains to be seen.
Right now, it's just a group of old friends having some informal matches locally.
Anyway, here's the favs in my collection so far, bottom to top:
RPR, 300WM
Tikka T3X Lite, 300WM
Savage 110 MDT Chassis, 223 Rem
Browning BAR MK3 Stalker, 243 Win
Savage 10, MDT Chassis, 308 Win

I got a Golden Eagle for a great price and put it on my Bergara HMR B14 6.5 Creedmoor. I didn't necessarily need the extra magnification but the price was too good to pass up. I use it for shooting steel, targets and so far only up to 400 yards but I really enjoy it. I typically use the extra magnification to spot for friends who can't see their targets with their 5-25x scopes. None of us can justify spending a ton of money for high power spotting scopes and camera systems. We don't shoot long range competition so this works great.

The price went from about $2200 CDN to $2700 CDN a few months ago so take care of that baby!

I'm also running the Vortex Golden Eagle on my 6.5 CM rifle....it's amazing in terms of magnification, clarity and tracking.

A couple of guys were trying to hit a target with their AR at 300 yards on my last range trip and they could not figure out where the rounds were actually splashing. So I dialed it in with my scope and told them "yer just hitting paper in the lower left hand corner of the target"....the guys with the spotting scope says asks me how I can see that and I tell him I'm at 60X and seeing .223 holes at 300 yards is easy peasy.

The only thing I miss from my Athlon Argos BTR Gen2 10-40X is the zero stop. The Golden Eagle rocks for me and fits Franken Gun perfectly.

That's a 1 MOA target at 200 yards and 8 rounds.

Nice hits with the 6.5, VooDoo.
Thanks for sharing.
Ya, that's what I'm talking about...I don't need the 60X spotting scope when shooting w/the Golden Eagle.
I’ve seen the prices really going up. I take great care of it. Since this discussion started, I’ve been shooting at 600 and 1000 yards. That is where the he golden eagle shines.
Indeed, she gets taken care of well.
Still only had the rig out to 300m.
Stuff happens, so my plans to go longer (500 to 1000) are pushed back to next spring-ish.

I could have sworn someone asked about the rings I was using.
I pulled the Ruger w/Vortex Golden Eagle out of the safe today.
I can't see any markings but I believe they are Leupold Medium Height Scope Rings.
Here's some pics, hope they help whoever was asking.
