Rifle Scopes Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

I have one for sale right now, and I like it, I just already have another. They are honestly loaded with features and a great deal for what they cost. I really like the Vortex reticles as well. The glass isn't spectacular, but it isn't terrible either. You have to spend double what they cost to get anything better.

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

I have heard all the same things... My brother bought one and LOVES IT. We are both long time hunters but are fairly new to the 1000 yd. shooting club. He talked me in to buy one for my .300 so I can't wait to see for myself what all the hupla is about. I just can't afford to spend 3 grand on a scope and if I can find one for half to one-third of it, why not?

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

No complaints with mine. Its on a R700 7mm rem mag. I carried it through the mountains and wasn't exactly nice to it. No problems as of yet, knock on wood

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

I like mine. Granted the glass is not as good as my Leupold, but the Vortex was also half the price. Their customer service is great if anything does to wrong with it. My only complaint is with the illuminated reticle. After it sits for a while in my safe I have to remove the battery and reinstall it to get it to work. It doesn't seem to drain the battery, it just stops working. IMHO it's the best FFP scope for the money.

I was wondering the same thing. I have one and have no complaints.

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

I just sold one in the FS section. I liked the scope, just wanted to try something different. I swapped it out for a night force on the 22LR just messing around.... and now I don't want to take the NF off. So I sold the vortex

I did the same thing. To me the glass just wasn't clear. It lacked resolution in my opinion. Granted I was comparing it to higher quality glass ie: nightforce and S&B but it was quite obvious that it was much lower quality. (IMHO)
Im much happier with my NF.

No offense intended, but for those that have owned or own S&Bs, USOs, and NFs, The PSTs are still bad ass.

Best scope, with best options, and best warranty for the buck: period. Id really like to buy a Viper, but unless they make it in 30 or 34mm, it wont happen. I wish vortex had just picked 34mm for it.....

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

i have a PST, razor, S&B, and NF

the PST is a great piece for the money, i can't justify the super high end stuff for every gun in my safe. the PST is perfect for the cost range it sits in, tracks good, great warranty, no complaints at all.

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

maybe i should clarify... for the money it offers great options. And I liked EVERYTHING about my PST aside from clarity ie: resoultion.

I especially liked the EBR reticle. Anyway unfortunately glass quality is number one for me and I dont like compromising on it. That said however, for 900 dollars retail you cant expect the world in terms of glass.

I think it fits well in its price catagory.

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

The scope dpreston just sold me will go on my Kidd 10/22 in a Tacticool stock (badass). One of my NF scopes (badass) found its way onto my Sako Quad (badass) and doesn't want to leave.
No, you can't have everything in a $900 (badass) scope. I can think of some scopes that have very nice glass and crappy internal components (that cost much more $$). My PST 6-24 has tracked perfectly and held zero on the 7WSM very well so far.
Badass (

Re: Vortex PST 4-16x50 unhappy owners?

I have one, I also have the SS 5-20X50. yes the pst has a lot of the so called features that are nice to have but for me the clarity of the glass is more important and I have to say that for me the SS beats the pst. Just my opinion! you have to try both and then decide for your self....
