Rifle Scopes Vortex razor gen II 3-18x50 feedback?

If cost is a factor, don't rule out a 5-20 razor. I've got a 5-20 and a 4.5-27, used to have a 3-18. The gen 2's are a step up but in my opinion when you can find like new 5-20's with rings/accessories for around $1300, there's no better deal in that magnification range. Great glass, zero stop, illum, same reticles, will never leave you needing more with what you say you'll use it for.
Hey Paul, I know you posted this a while ago but in your opinion opinion would you say that the Razor 5-20 is significantly better than the Viper PST Gen 2 5-25? I have the latter and don’t really have the opportunity to look through a Gen 1 razor. I have found a razor that will cost me $600 more than what I could get if I sold my viper. My eyes are not great, hence why I like the extra 5x zoom of the Viper. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've never used a PST gen II so I honestly can't say. I've heard the PST compares to the Strike Eagle, which I have. The Razor gen 1 is a much better scope than the strike eagle IMO. I've had 3 gen 1 razors, 2 of which have been used extensively and they all tracked perfect. The one I have now is on a 7 saum hunting rifle. It's been dropped, rained on, bounced around in a truck, pretty much any real world shit you could throw at a scope and it's been rock solid. I've thought about replacing it with something lighter but I have so much confidence in it, I can't bring myself to swap it out.

Thanks a lot for your honesty. I believe the strike eagle and viper are similar. So you would say the glass clarity of the Razor is worth $600 more than that of the strike eagle? Also, weight wise is it about 30% heavier? I suppose that extra 5x is hardly used.

To me, yes definitely worth $600 more for the Razor. I did just see a 3-18 gen II with the EBR-7C reticle sell here for $1200. I would buy that over either of the others discussed. Not sure what your use is but 18-20x is plenty for most everything I do, except when shooting groups at 100 and when I used* to shoot prairie dogs, I like a lot of magnification for those 2 things.
