Hey gang.

Buddy and I are out at the range right now with his new Razor riflescope and we're experiencing an issue:

Regardless of how the diopter is adjusted, achieving zero parallax and image focus for a target at 200 yards, the parallax knob must be maxxed out at infinity. We can watch the focus and parallax get better and better as the knob is twisted from 40-infinity, and just as it gets good, the knob hits its stop. The 100 yard target is in focus with zero parallax with the knob at about 500. This all occurs regardless of what power setting the scope is on.

Also, at low power, the parallax knob appears to do nothing until its most of the way to infinity.

Are we doing something dumb or does he need to call Vortex in the AM?

That sucks.
Looks like a call to Vortex is in order.

They are already closed for the day, Scott may check this thread later, or you could PM him.

Re: Vortex Razor Parallax Knob Doesn't Work?

Sounds like the objective lens has been turned somehow. This can happen from someone putting the sunshade on too tight which would cause the objective lens to turn. Just give me a call in the AM and we will get it figured out.

Scope in question is mine. I'll call Scott in the am. Sunshade wasn't used since it would hit the Badger EFR if installed. Made sure not to overtorque rings as well. Was wanting to use it at a Thunder Valley match next week but I guess that isn't going to happen.

I dont think psmith has any doubt that Vortex will make it right. Just a bummer when your fancy new tool (toy) arrives nonop!

From what we could tell, optic seemed nice, but even at 200 yards we couldnt get all the parallax out, and I dont think the image was as crisp as it could get. Still, at 20 power, we could make out the tiny "x" on the 1" orange hotspots at 200 yards that my NF and SB can just barely resolve.

Scott - we appreciated the quick response from you after business hours.

By all accounts, Vortex is known to have exemplary customer service. Its pretty cool when you get feedback from the company after business hours and in this context.

I sincerely hope this thread hasnt come across as bashing the product. We aren't "noobs", but we're not experts either, so the purpose of this thread was to possibly discover we were doing something dumb.
