Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST update! (12-21-10)

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Are there any plans for a FFP version of the 2.5-10 PST?

I'd buy two of these as it scratches a particular itch on some hunting guns. The only other option (that I've found) in that form factor and magnification is the IOR 2.5-10 which costs a bit more.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

a guy in devils lake nd said that a vortex sales rep stoped in the local shop last night and left a 6-24 pst at the shop there. Are they getting out to the vendors hands or is he blowing smoke up my ass?

Vortex has said that if the interest is great enough that they would look at offering the 2.5-10 PST if FFP.

Hmmm... I've got a 4-14 on order now. If that works out like we all hope they will, a 2.5-10 would be just about right for a project I've got in mind for this winter. Count me a definate maybe

You are not always using your scope on the highest setting and you are not always using your reticle for just ranging. With FFP you don't have to concern yourself with what power the scope is on, it is one less thing you have to remember or check.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

While I agree on a 2.5-10 or 3-9 FFP isn't as important as on a higher power scope, it can still be nice. When hunting in semi-open country I often like to walk around with the scope on 6X so I'm pretty much ready for anything. It's nice to be able to quickly make a shot using holdovers without worrying about having to remember to crank up the power.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

A 2.5-10 PST would be great for a ranch gun/AR out here. If they had a reticle that would allow quick engagement at low power and precise milling at high power. Something similar to the USO JNG MIL.

Woot!
I've had the 1-4 TMQC on back order since February. (Not that I'm getting antsy or anything.)

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

I picked up a 700P in .300WM for my latest project gun and this cannon needs glass.

Will the Vortex PST FFP models hold up to the pounding of flinging 200+ grainers's down range all day?

Second, What are the chances for a package deal such as scope, base, rings, caps....

Thanks...

I don't have a PST. I've had a Viper 6-20 and now have a Razor 5-20. Both were (are) just fine. Based on that I'd guess that the PST's will be just fine.

I beat the insides out of a Burris 4.5-14 TAC and 2 Falcon Menaces.

A lot of guys keep asking for some through the scope pics. Well I finally got around to it today and here they are. These pics are of the 6-24x50 FFP mil at 6x and 24x.

6x

The production reticles will be numbered 2,4,6 and so on.

Will there be any way that they can be ordered without the numbers in the reticle?

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

I just got a notice from Midway that my backorder of the 2.5-10 was shipping. They show the 1-4 and a couple others in stock as of right now.

Any of the 4-16 FFP MRAD in this shipment? I ordered a 6-24 in dec. '09, but switched it to a 4-16.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

ANYBODY know what size butler creek caps will fit the 6-24x50 PST,
I see this has been asked but can find an answer? I'm going to place an order and want to get caps for the 2 scopes I have ordered. Wayne

Most vendors on here will know exactly what size to use if you call them also.

According to a post from Liberty Optics:

For the 4-16 and 6-24 PST, the best fit BC caps are 16eye and 43obj.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Does anyone have a 2.5-10x yet? I'm thinking this scope would be about the right power/size/weight for a mid range AR. If you have one, please post some thru the scope pics. Pics at various ranges like 100yd and 600yd and at low and high power would be great!
