Erik,

No they don't include flip caps. Please remind me after SHOT on the sizes and I will get that information for you.

We plan on shipping the MOA and mrad version at the same time.

Thanks for the quick reply and I'll remind you later about the caps question. Just an FYI, your being on this board and directly answering all the questions about your product was a huge factor in my decision to order. Keep up the good work - if your scope is as good as your CS, I'll be very happy with it.

Thanks,
Erik

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Thanks to Sam at Vortex and SWFA for their info.

One of my buddies is at the SHOT and checked out the Vortex PST 1x4x24 and loved it. I trust his judgment, so I just ordered one from SWFA.

By the way Sam, he loved your meeting/class at the SHOT - whatever it was. You may have a devoted convert there..and that guy alone could keep you in business!

Hopefully the scope will arrive in time for the start of the 3 Gun season and in plenty of time for the MGM Iron Man in June?

Thanks guys!

No way. We're still not expecting to get them until spring time. When I have a more firm date I will let everyone know.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Sam - I'm assuming it's the same time frame (spring) for the 1x4 PST?

Hoping to have mine in time to work it out before the MGM Iron Man in June.

Thanks for your responses on this board.

Yes, the same time frame for all the PST's.

Thanks for the orders guys, we have a ton of these scopes on order and hope to fill all these pre-orders the same day we recieve them.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Any new info on these? Like a closer ETA date?

I am really excited about these. I didn't know they weren't out yet and I was just getting ready to email SWFA on the 6-24x50 because their website doesn't show real-time stock.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

As much anticipation as there is on these scopes... you think you're going to be able to build enough of them between now and release date to actually have enough to sell Sam? Talk about a good problem to have... but holy cow you need to build a lot.

I see myself getting 4-8 of them if they are what they are claimed to be. I know other guys that will want several as well. Thats a lot of damn scopes to build!

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

I'm glad to see your interest in these scopes orkan. We're trying to do our best to accurately gauge demand and get them out there ASAP, but it can be difficult to know exactly before release.

I don't think the problem will be being able to build enough, as much as it will making sure we build just the right amount. We don't want to build too many either.

My guess is that initially they might be a little hard to get, but I think we'll soon be able to figure out very accurately the demand and then make the appropriate adjustments once they are released.

We sure appreciate your business and I'm sure our dealers do too! Thanks!

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

From the looks of it, I don't think building too many will be a problem!! LOL. I have one on back order at SWFA to go along with the Razor 5-20 that I have on the way! I'll be trading my MK4 in on the PST and then all of my optics will be Vortex! I'm confident that I won't regret it!!

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

The razor is a winner in its price range. I expect the pst's to be the same.

If you like we can go ahead and process your trade and apply the credit toward your back order, this way you will be in line and have a scope allocated to you.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Will the 2.5-10x44 be sufficient for ranges out to 800m due to the fact that it does not have a parallax adjustment like the higher-magnification models?

It's going to be used on a Rem. 700P .308 and shot primarily at ranges of 2-300m until later this summer where I'll have an opportunity to shoot out to 800m.

Always take SHOT reviews with a grain of salt. Remember, he was looking through it unsupported, inside a convention hall, on a blue rubber rifle that hadn't been setup for his eye relief. I'm not saying he's right or wrong, I'm just saying that it's not the ideal place to form a decision on the merits of a scope.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

I've looked through all of them extensively and the thing that I've been really impressed by is the lack of tunnel vision in every one.

One thing to keep in mind is that these have very long and forgiving eye relief. If your eye is too close to the scope you can still get the full field of view, unlike many other scopes, but then you will see more "black doughnut" outside the field of view. This is what gives you the tunnel vision effect.

If you simply pull your eye back to about 4" the "black doughnut" is gone and the field of view fills your field of vision out the the physical edge of the scope eyepiece.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

We are doing our best to get them out to you guys as soon as possible. We want them out there as bad as you ,but we are not going to rush them just to get them out there. As of right now we do not have any firm delivery dates ,only estimations. I promise they are worth the wait.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Any chance of BDC turrents being offered? Or is the best approach to this getting the "blank" turrents, and sending them into be engraved?

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Yes, I'd say that there is a good chance we will be doing some BDC turrets. I saw SWFA mention that they were also going to get some of our blanks and have them pre-engraved for purchase as well.

Thanks for the quick response. I am pretty convinced one or your scopes will be on my long range ar build.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Hopefully these come in the spring because I have a lonely Remington 700P sitting here blind with no optics.

Does SWFA have any deposits on these like CSTactical? I just would like to know when-abouts my credit card would be getting charged before I pull the trigger on one of these.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

We don't require any deposits and you can cancel you back order at any time. We won't charge your card until the day we ship.

Simply place your order online and you are good to go.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

I am ready to pull the trigger on a 4-16x50 MOA reticle but cant decide between SFP vs. FFP. I have read all five pages and dont see any images of the FFP reticle at 4x and at 16x to see how small the reticle looks at the lowest power vs zoomed in. I currently have three NF scopes that are all SFP and really have no complaints but would consider FFP depending on how it looks on either extremes. All inputs appreciated.

Re: Now accepting back orders on the Vortex Viper

Alpha,

From what I've found the reticles are different between FFP and SFP with FFP offering .2mil hasmarks which the SFP doesn't have.

That's a stickler for me... at least I got a few months to mull it over.

My biggest question or concern is how small or big the reticles look on either extreme.
