Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Rimfire Bolt Action

The early Gen 1's have a breachface that if you dryfire much can cause a burr to develop on the underside of the bolt that then catches on the ejector. This causes the bolt to stop midway through you bringing it to the rear. So they set the barrel back by a fraction of an inch to change the breachface. Plus they replaced the part of the bolt that had developed the burr and also timed the bolt ignition whatever that means.
$50 for shipping. $200 labor @$100 per hour to assess sticking bolt, accuracy, and damaged tenon threads for action bolt. Incidently, I was emailed yesterday stating there would be no charge after all, as the warranty changes had not been updated on the web page and I had not been informed that I would be charged if no warranty work was validated. Worked out ok for me, but the future does not bode well.

I had numerous issues until I swapped out a Timney, has he swapped the TT with another, and still has the issue?
So does my TT....the question is has he isolated the action and trigger to see if it stays, or goes away by changing the trigger, or even a different bolt for that matter?
He’s on vacation and not answering messages lol. Once he’s back I’ll do some digging and see what all he’s tried. I believe he has changed triggers and bolts but not certain. Three of us ordered.gen 1 vudoos in like 2018 or something pretty early. Mine has been flawless but the other two have had issues.
For what it is worth, I'm 65 in a Fdn. stock for 2.5 years without a concern. But 55 will surely do.
I think a couple months back in the where do we go from here thread ... and we wait in anticipation.
Ordered a factory 360 barreled action from a vendor and just got it in today. Pretty excited about it but just wanted to share this.. I’m not going to bother with a back and forth with VGW so hold off on the “you should contact VGW first before posting here” comments. It has zero bearing on accuracy but damn, it could have been a little more aesthetically pleasing. All my custom barrels have way nicer crowns. I’m going to season the barrel this weekend and will report back. Should be fun.

Yeah. It almost seems like “factory” just means high end production and not custom shop quality. Gotta pump them out to dealers and customers. If you know me from the RimX thread you know I like to try different barrels. I’ll probably rebarrel next year.

Just get some 40 grit sandpaper, some hawk tuah, and smooooth that out. Cool beans.
Make sure you then really work on that area with the hole, the black circle thing. Gotta dull those sharp edges there or you’ll cut the bullets as they come out.
lol I think a small 200 grit sanding drum will work faster. Fits right on the hole.
Good idea! Easier to dremel-ovalize that nasty hole so the bullet can spin end-over-end like a shuriken towards the target.

Yep...it definitely sucks rocks. I've noticed a lot of high end things slipping the last few years and find myself having to look past what shouldn't be. As you said it shouldn't affect anything but just makes you wonder what else they didn't get right.

It’s a 100% VGW barreled action. VGW did the threading. It’s a 22” 1.20” Bartlein with the EC V2 threading. Even came with a Vudoo red 3D printed thread protector.
I'm a long way from the US but I think I know how you must be feeling about that.

The chamber exhibited the same quality control - No saving that one and I had to re-barrel it - Now looks like this;
I sold an Anschutz 1710 recently and it was delivered to the buyer's dealer on June 7th. Buyer went in to collect it yesterday and it can't be found

Cutting a proper crown only takes a few minutes and you know they have the tools.

Tony - Given the $ exchange rate and the cost of importing from the US to Aus, I would have been dismayed if any of my three Vudoo barrelled actions arrived displaying quality control like that.
I have a Manzella Kreiger for my Rim X in transit at the moment. Mike was kind enough to send me images of the crown & tenon machining - Certainly doesn't look like that!
I'm old and fussy and always ran German rim fires before these 700 foot prints became "fashionable" but I've had a few hiccups with Anschutz in recent years too.

Uh oh, SpaghettiOs. Took the Vudoo out today for a shakedown seasoning session but ran into some issues which I will bring to Vudoo’s attention on Monday before I discuss it publicly here. With that said once a round is fired the accuracy potential of this barrel is nice. The tuner is still set to zero. I’m indifferent about tuners and have gone a while without them. I enjoy lot testing and can usually find a good lot.

I have an EC tuner on my Rim X MTU Benchmark - Haven't seen any Lapua for sale in my area since the rifle arrived in 2022 so it's pretty much an ornament at this point.
Mike has done a 1.2 straight with Padom's Eachus chamber & no muzzle threading on this Kreiger - Looking forward to testing that when it arrives down here.

How she is configured right now. The only thing that will change in the upcoming months is the chassis. I have a Foundation Centurion ordered.
He’s done 3 RimX barrels for me and they all shoot. Wish he dabbled with Vudoos as well.
My understanding is no........because of setting headspace and aligning extractor grooves on tenon. Tolarence stacking probbaly comes into play also.
Crown was from a broken tool on the lathe and the bolt closing issue was from an out of spec anti rotation pin. My barreled action is currently at VGW.
That’s really disappointing from what is presented as a premium custom. Sounds like a Savage, but a really expensive one.
VGW owned up to it and is taking care of the issue. It should have never left their shop but things do happen even to good companies. I’m glad they did take care of it and didn’t play the customer blame game like some manufacturers do.
That’s good. I have run across several products recently from $50-$2K that are not useable or perform poorly due to bad QC. All from “good brand name companies”. I’m a budget hobby-ist so very low volume. I shudder to think how many times this happens to business volume purchasers.
I recently bought my 3rd V22S single shot action to get one with the RBLP configuration. Was hoping I would be able to move the fresh Benchmark bbl that I'd recently done for the 1st V22S (RBRP) over to the new #3 action, even though I knew it was unlikely to work out that way. I was happy with how the new Benchmark was shooting on action #1, so besides being lazy, I was really wanting to see how it shot on action #3. But when I pulled it off the #1 action and tried it on #3, I found that the extractor slots were past the point of lining up correctly. So rather than setting it back to go nearly a full rotation farther onto the #3 action, facing off the breechface to compensate, running the reamer in to get the same amount of bullet engraving as before, then having to get it set up in my indexing fixture on the mill to cut the extractor slots deeper...and because I had another new Shilen ratchet R5 blank in stock...I just put the Benchmark back on #1 and did the machine work to get the new Shilen blank finished for the #3 action. If I hadn't had the Shilen blank in hand, I would've given more thought to doing all the machine work to the Benchmark to get it fitted correctly for the new action. But honestly, it's a PITA to do all that machine work on a barrel that was shooting great on the #1 action, because there's always going to be some self doubt about how closely my 2nd set-up in both the lathe & mill are going to be to the original machine work. In the end, I really felt that the best route was to simply set up the Shilen and start off fresh...and the way action #3 is shooting with the fresh R5 Shilen, I'm glad I went that route. I'm not relating all this as a slap in the face to VGW's accuracy & consistency - only to illustrate the reasons why we don't see shops offering pre-fits for Vudoo (or any other actions that require extractor slots).
Yes Sir Mr. Dennis.....I think you made a good decision. Instead of doing the work twice, just spin up the Shilen barrel and go with it.
What you described is kind of how I thought it would be and I really appreciate you sharing it with us!!!

I ran my Gen 1 in a LRH for a minute, it balanced great but was a bit too light for my taste!
Hi, I have one of the v22's, vgw, 1682. I'm having extraction problems. I called vudoo they told me to use SK or Luppa ammo due to the tight chamber. Well, it didn't help. I will call them back up on Monday. I was wonder if someone might know how to fix my problem before I have to ship it back to Vudoo?
You shouldn't have to ship it back if after all this time it just started having an issue. If it's just the extractors weakening some then you can swap those out at home.
