The 16 inch I have is great for movement in vehicles and PRS type courses. I have observed that I loose no velocity to the 20 or 24 inch barrels I have. In fact those longer ones tend to give slightly slower velocity. Don't think there is any adverse impact on accuracy. The Vudoo shoots as well as what others here see. I would go for a shorty every time.View attachment 7069618
Your correct, you will normally lose a little velocity with the longer barrels (if all things are equal). IMO that loss in velocity is one of the reasons a long barrel is more accurate. I have found the slightly slower ammo is more inherently accurate (for the most part), my opinion is it is because there is no chance of the bullet hitting the transonic point anywhere in its flight to the target. This is a theory that I have come up with over years of shooting, probably a bunch of crap but I'm running with it. Also the longer barrel has more time to properly stabilize the bullet not in a rotational sense as we normally think of bullet stabilization, but rather in a settling down from the shock of ignition. Think of it as giving it time for the harmonics of combustion process to dissipate before the bullet exits the muzzle.
Awesome looking rifle by the way!
