Hey , I'm from Australian i I'm fairly new around here but been doing a lot of reading over the past few weeks, and have all ways had interest in long range shooting. all ways loved making 600 yard + shoots with a 243 while out foxing.
now i want to build a big custom long range rifle , i want to be able too attempt shots between the range of 1000 and 2000 yards on game (pigs , deer , goats , etc) and obliviously need enough energy to make HUMANE kills, we have VERY few long range's here so i dont think this rig will ever see long distance ranges.
my question is what caliber ? i was looking at the 408 cheytec as it has very good accuracy out their with plenty of knock down power(recoil doesn't bother me i shoot my 300 RUM weighting 7.5 lb fully kited and can manage 1/2in groups at 100 yards) , on a lawton 8500-L action as i want it to be a repeater.
would the 338 lap do this? is their any other caliber's i should look at?
and any other info , only just getting into this
thanks heaps
