Rifle Scopes Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

If I'm not mistaken that particular Weaver is made in China not Japan like most other Weavers. I would rather go with the Grand Slam Tactical 3-10x40 mil/mil.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

RFutch--
What source did you find that determines Kaspa scopes are made in China? I used my best google-fu when I found this scope advertised at Midway and at the Weaver site, and I couldn't find out much at either. Just curious as what you based your statement on. I guess I need to call Midway, and find out what they say.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

There was another thread about this scope, on another forum, and the OP had called Weaver and asked. Im going from memory here so you may want to call and confirm but I'm pretty sure it was China.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

RFutch--

Inquiring minds gotta know. I just got off of the phone. First with Midway then CS at Weaver/ATK. You are correct as to country of origin. It also has red illumination only, 1/4 MOA, turret design is not the same as the higher priced Japanese produced Weaver Tactical scopes, and according to CS it has 30" MOA at 100yds on elevation and windage. This scope is supposed to be a Midway exclusive and an entry level scope for younger shooters or shooters wanting the feel/look of a tactical scope. It will probably fill a niche for people on a budget. Maybe someone will at least test one out and post a review.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

30MM tube and only 30MOA of travel? I think someone is a little misinformed in their CS dept. At least I hope it is more.

This same scope is in the new sportsmans guide shooters catalog at the same price. Most things from the guide are chinese as far as optics go.

Run from it.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

That scope has the tell tale sign of a China Scope,

in the half moon shape belove the light bottom/fixture.

I could buy a 100 of those bearing my name should I wish to, as that being said,

no one knows if the will last or are any good to start with.

I would not spend 200 USD on a thing like that.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

I am not advocating buying the scope, just throwing it out for general knowledge. Cheap doesn't equate to good.

Here's one back at you Swedish guy.

Amerika kommer aldrig att förstöras från utsidan. Om vi kommer att vackla och förlora våra friheter, det kommer att förstöras eftersom vi själva.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

In translation for the others,

America will never fall from external forces, should we ever falter and loose our freedoms, is it beacuse we ourselfs have failed (faltered).

The last paragraf is slightly off in Swedish othervise that is a great text and has a profound meaning.

Read the description on Midway's sight.......Not doubt the scope is made in China as well as the person who wrote the product info.......eight centuries of optic expertise.

Re: Weaver Kaspa Tactical Scope

I went to a sniper school (suarez) and used the 2.5x10 Kaspa on a m&p ar-15 (I know it's not a sniper rifle but it's what I had)and hit an 8" plate at 800 yds and a 18 x24 target at 900 yds. The only problem I noticed was when estimating range using the mildots, at power level 10 the reading was not correct. When I backed down to 9 it ranged just fine. I think I paid $200 for the scope and have been well pleased. I do understand that you get what you pay for, but for 200 bucks, I rolled the dice and won... this time.

Midway has now deleted the source of that link.

Gopherslayer you are correct. According to the specs on midways site it has 50 moa elevation and 50 moa Windage.
Which does sound more appropriate for a 30 mm tube. It is made in China. The price is pretty good for a guy trying to go punch paper or throw some lead at a woodchuck on a tight budget. I am in need of a scope (or three) in this criteria. But I am not sure as of yet.
