I have a weaver tactical 3x15 side focus. Saterday while out shooting I went to adjust for a new target and it more or less free spun on my elevation. I had this happen before and knew that it was the cap screw. So I went to tighten it and it snapped. So I have emailed weaver the fowling. I am just wondering what you guys think while I am waiting for a reply. Especially about the purge.
To Weaver:
I have a weaver tactical. The elevation knob became loose and non working so i pulled it up and tightened the screw a little. This happened again and the screw broke with barely any force. I was wondering if it would be possible to purchase a screw from you. and any recommendation on how to extract the old one?

Hello again Joe,
We have to get the scope back because this screw when removed compromises the purge of the scope will have to be re purged this is why we need to have the scope returned to us.
To Weaver:
another email before I take the dive into sending her off. I hope we are talking about different screws. I have attached the images of said screw. A couple reasons I would hope this is a different screw:
obviously I don't want to go without my scope for that long.
I have seen the screw coming loose is a known problem and if someone took it out for a little lock tight they would have the same issue.
If your cap became gritty while turning the average guy would pull it off and clean it.
the windage knob has the same screw.
I'm not trying to be a pest, obviously I just like any other shooter appreciate your lifetime warranty but its getting to be good shooting weather. Please let me know if this is the same screw.
Thanks,
Joe Randall
Again just dont understand why this would hold the purge in. Or for a matter of fact what is a purge? (I am assuming its a gas but what and why)
