i just got my new mcmillan a5 in last week and the stock alone ways id say around 5 Ibs.
im looking for a lighter stock since ill be lugging this thing around hunting some. i dont go on like day treks but i dont want to carry a 15 lb rifle with me when i call coyotes ya know? so in terms of fill- id get the lightest/no fill if possible
I have a McMillan Remington Sporter that can't weigh more than 2.5 pounds because the whole rifle weighs only 8.5 pounds including scope, rings and mounts. The stock is in ADL configuration with a trued 700SA, (2) 25 inch Hart barrels chambered in .243 Ackley. One is a 1:8 twist and the other barrel is 1:14.
If your going to be carrying the rifle hunting, i wouldn't recommend the A5 stock. If you just get a HTG stock with a recoil pad and no adjustments, it will weigh as light as 2lbs up to 2 1/2lbs.
to be honest i dont really like the htg stocks, ive seen one in person and it looked better than in pics but id rather have a t3 over an htg. but the T3 and T2 weigh basically the same according to their site. i kinda like the style of the T2 better but i feel like the T3 is a more versatile, hunting oriented stock. any input on these?
i like a beavertail forend and id prefer a pistolgrip but i guess i dont have to have one. thats why i really like the T3.
is there anyone that stocks the T3 and can ship immediately or do i have to wait? reason i ask is cuz i know atleast one place that keeps mcm in stock and ready to ship, didn't know if there was a place like that for manners
