They can pass bullshit like this but can't get the lottery or Constitutional carry.
The AL abortion bill is not the first of its kind. It may be one of the strongest yet but certainly not first. My take on this is states are not so much lining up to get RvW back to SCOTUS but to put State's Rights in their lap.
The most simple answer to abortion lies in women's hands. If there were other choices (viable, humane, even inexpensive) available would they think they HAD to chose abortion? Most I know who have gone thru abortions have regrets for the rest of their lives. Right now many make their choice based on "counseling" by PP or (worse) liberal politicians.
SCOTUS ruled on RvW, in my opinion, on a "loophole" or, at the very least, a gross misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment. I see that the same damn people that push for abortion rights also push to abolish 2A rights. It is quite clear. Abortion legality is NOT a RIGHT but 2A CLEARLY gives anyone the RIGHT to KEEP & BEAR arms and further states that that right NOT BE INFRINGED.
Now, Constitutional Carry and why is it so hard to get. in AL? Simply put, it's dollars. All the local sheriff's have a pot of discretionary $$ (big pots) due to the issuance of CCW in AL. The lack of support from those same people is why CC did not pass. I do predict that the newest attempt, a state issued permit good for lifetime, at a cost of $150 (split between AL &. local LE) will pass. Why? Yup, the State of AL will be getting $$ in their pockets for it then. Want an example? Baiting for deer and feral pigs. We tried and tried but didn't get it thru UNTIL the bill had $$ for the State's Coffers. Want to bait? Gotta pay $15/year for the privilege. Yup, even if your exempt from buying a hunting license (over 65 YO, under 16YO or disabled). Also, my understanding is that if anyone in your hunting club baits then ALL MEMBERS of the club will have to buy the license.
End of my rambling rant. Please forgive me, as I am an "old fart" now and HATE DEMOCRATS!
