Banning abortion won’t stop Pennsylvania Representative Tim Murphy’s next mistress from getting one, when he encourages her to do so, if it turns out she’s pregnant after all.

People with means will be able to get whatever they want, regardless of law, and not eat the consequences. People without are shit out of luck.
That’s fair and reasonable of you. I don’t think a bundle of cells is alive without a functioning brain and heart. Medical science has come a long way in the last few decades in terms of keeping preemies alive, which is wonderful, and I think that’s going to continue improving, so I don’t think “viability outside the womb” is a good measure.
Of course its alive because left un fucked with will become a gamete, embryo, etc. all the way to senior citizen.
As to 'vialble outside the womb' lets re phrase that to read' not viable when ripped from its natural environment (the womb) and put in a new environment unprepared', just as you would not survive if ripped from your natural environment (the earth) and dropped in outer space w/o a suit.

I don’t think an ambiguously alive fetus’s potential liberty, happiness, and future trumps an unambiguously alive woman’s liberty, happiness, and future. Of course, if the woman wants to carry a fetus to term, more power to her.
You don’t always have the choice to “spread your legs” when you end up pregnant, and you don’t always have the choice to “bang a chick” when she ends up pregnant. Why should a repeatedly raped 11 year old in Ohio have to carry a baby to term, and why should a 14 year old be paying his teacher child support?
I don’t think abortion is a good thing. I think that sometimes it’s the least worst option, and I don’t think it’s our place to judge when those occasions are, and the blatant hypocrisy from some of the people most fervent about the issue disgusts me. I hope there’s a hell for them to burn in, and if I end up there as well so be it.
I also think I’m nearing my 20 posts for the day, so I’m out of this discussion, but I do want to note, ArmyJerry, that I appreciate your candor, consistency, and support of life beyond just ensuring birth. If everyone were as good a father as you seem to be this entire debate would be a non-issue.

The analogy I use is this:
In the womb fetus or whatever stage it may be in is in its 'NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. Of course if you remove it from its natural environment, and place it in one it is unprepared for, it will die. I
In the same fashion, if I take you out of your natural environment, without preparation, and drop you in in space w/o a suit, or in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, without a boat, youll die.

2-It all depends on why she's pregnant. If she got raped, then I tend to agree. No one should be forced to endure that and an argument can be made as to the life of the mother. That horror could be more than one should be expected to carry, especially if it was a brutal, repeated, or incestuous rape.
1-If she made a choice, even a bad one, like getting too drunk at a frat party and getting herself knocked up, then tough shit. You made a choice, you fucked up, and you dont have the right to commit murder for convenience. The argument for her quality of life becomes greatly reduced BECAUSE OF HER CHOICE! and takes second place to the quality of life of the innocent being in her WHO HAD NO CHOICE!

What you think and reality on the ground could easily be two distinctly separate things.
A zygote is in fact human life with a completely autonomous DNA map to build a fully formed human body from. There is no one on this earth that can tell us that without a brain or heart that there is no driver attached to the clump of cells.
I am sorry Sir but I and everyone else’ intellects are much more than a complex series of chemical reactions firing off in some gray matter. All the grey matter is, is an interface for the intellect to control the yet fully formed physical body.
Conversely there is no one that can say when the intellect is attached. That is obviously a closely guarded secret by the keeper of reality whom owns everything except our choices.
Now I will go one step further and trample toes on both sides and say that the pill and IUD are abortion devices also and not conception preventatives. What is needed is more prevention of conception and that should start primarily with treating sex with respect for its real purpose and not like a box full of candies to gorge ourselves on haphazardly without consequence.

I think at some point the argument becomes a bit unwieldy.
For example - It could be argued that the sperm is perhaps the more significant half of the equation in baby making, e,g,, sperm + egg = baby.
Sperm inside the nutsack can live for something like 3 months, and there's a fuckton of them. When you butter that girl's biscuit, one out of a fuckton successfully reaches the finish line (usually).
So, in that sense, there's a fuckton of potential babies dying 24/7/365 before anyone even got close to getting their dicks wet.
Once that one in a fuckton crosses the finish line, though, something truly fucking special has happened.
So, the morning after pill, yeah probably that is abortion, though it can take a minute for things to wiggle into position. The IUD, though, I thought does basically what birthcontrol pills do, which is make it hard for the eggs to stick to the walls or whatever. Are eggs babies?
Your thoughts are confined to the societal box you were born into. You were given an intellect to see past the box for a better solutions so why not excericise the damn thing vs saying the problems of the box are too much to solve in a just manner.
Additionally you don’t own hell which is simply put a state of oblivion, made waste and wholly forgotten. Up like smoke and gone forever. Your thoughts on it make little difference to who earns that E ticket ride.

Sperm only carries half the DNA blueprint. It’s at conception that the full mapping is derived. That typically happens way up in the fallopian tubes of the woman and before the zygote finds a cozy spot in the womb to attach to for resource mining and nourishment.
The pill and IUD prevent the attachment of the little resource miner in the womb causing it to die without the resources needed to continue building its own body.
He or she builds thier body without the woman. They just need to be fed and protected to get the job done. Just like they need similar feeding and protection after birth to continue growth and regeneration.

I agree with this. I am against on demand abortion, but a rape victim should never be forced have the child of a rapist unless she wants it.

Since we are all about "equality" these days, how about women have the exact same rights when it comes to unborn children that men have?
After all, it takes both a man and a woman (or parts from both) to organically make a child.
The courts are all about making sure men pay for their "responsibilities" and "their choices" in some communist states like CA even if it wasn't theirs and they can prove it (Yep true there, judges saying yes we know she lied, but we need somebody to pay for the kid and the government agency, so tag you're it for 25 years tough luck).
So for Men, if they agree (or even if they don't agree) to have sex, if contraception is not used or fails and a pregnancy results, they are stuck with the "responsibility for their choices/actions" for the next up to 25 years regardless of their wishes and have to pay out the ass for it & live under the thumb of the "family" court system which is total kangaroo court. Even in instances when the woman had been proven to have dug a used condom out of the trash and baste herself with it, (clearly against the wishes of the man), the vile judges still said, Tough... well pay up....
So then if women have sex why should they have more rights???
